What is Trailer Stability Assist? - Dow Honda (2)

Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) is a safety feature which is found on the 2017 Ridgeline and Pilot models. It is part of the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system, and used to compensate for a trailer’s effects on your Honda’s handling. TSA detects when your trailer begins to sway as you drive. It will then automatically activate the brakes to stabilize the trailer, or lower the engine speed when necessary.

Why do trailers sway back-and-forth?

Sometimes while driving, your trailer can become out of sync with the motion of your vehicle. This can occur when the trailer isn’t loaded correctly, causing weight imbalances, excessive speeds, road conditions, or road maneuvering.
