What is not allowed at Pretoria Zoo? ›

Ride bicycles or skateboards or roller blades between enclosures. Remove or collect any plant or related material (dead or alive). Remove, pickup or collect any animal, or related material or parts (dead or alive).

You will need to provide your own food, drinks, cutlery and crockery, however, the zoo will provide the table and chairs, braai stands as well as the charcoal.

Indeed one is allowed to bring in alcohol. Helpful? Botanical Gardens are very popular for picnic.

The Zoo should not allow alcohol or glass or cooler boxes of any kind on site.

The Smithsonian's National Zoo is not responsible for any lost or stolen items, so please do not leave any valuables in an unattended stroller. Visitors may bring their own food and non-alcoholic drinks into the Zoo. However, all trash must be properly disposed of. Visitors may not bring in alcohol.

it took us about 5 hours but this could take longer if you are planning on having a picnic there as well.

Best Zoo in Africa is most definitely Joburg Zoo, Pretoria Zoo has been slacking in the former years but seems to be heading strong to something great but ti'll that happens, Joburg is the best. It's very clean, neat spacy and high quality.

No climbing trees, picking flowers or fruits, removing or pruning of plants is allowed.

Botanic Gardens

There are plenty of picnic worthy spots in Botanic Gardens - from the Palm Valley to the lawns near Eco Lake and of course the Frangipani Garden and Tembusu Heritage Tree!

If a drink has been infused with botanicals, it means that botanicals have been added to the liquid and steeped for a period of time to impart their flavor. Botanicals used for infusion typically include dried flowers, herbs, or berries.

We also had fun in the cable car ride (R30 p. p. for return) which goes up to quite a good height and provides superb panoramic views of the zoo. The kiddies train ride was really cute. There are several small kiosks selling snacks and refreshments spread across the area.

A must for the children with candy floss and a fantastic touching and feeling animal farm. The Zoo is a great lace to head to win your picnic basket and if you lucky to catch a convey in the park or two even better. A definite must and a guaranteed place to go back to over and over and over.

The Johannesburg Zoo is one of the city's best attractions for families. Visitors are allowed to bring outside food and beverages, so consider packing a picnic lunch. Don't forget to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. The zoo is wheelchair-accessible, and wheelchair parking is available in the public lot.

Do not feed the animals, throw objects, tap or bang on exhibit glass. Respect walls and fences throughout the zoo. See something? Say something!

For the safety of the animals, no outside food or drink is allowed in the Zoo. Water may be brought in and we provide several water bottle fill stations on grounds. Picnic grounds are available at Blank Park, just north of the parking lot. Concessions inside the Zoo are operated by Hy-Vee throughout the summer.

Outside food or drink is not allowed into the zoo. Exceptions are: bottled water, baby food, and formula. Ice chests, coolers, and ice bags are not allowed on zoo grounds.
