Does the 2021 Honda CR-V Have a Panoramic Sunroof? (2024)

There are several different designs for panoramic sunroofs, but they all give drivers and passengers an expansive view of the sky above. They give some of the sensations of driving in a convertible without actually having the top down, and they’re often available in SUVs. Does the popular 2021 Honda CR-V offer a panoramic sunroof? We take a look.

The 2021 Honda CR-V

U.S. News definitely thinks the 2021 CR-V is a winner, ranking it first among compact SUVs, crossover SUVs, and SUVs with two rows. It also named it a winner of its 2021 Best Compact SUV for the Money award and a finalist for its 2021 Best Compact SUV for Families.

The 2021 Honda CR-V has a nicely finished interior with plenty of room for passengers and cargo. With 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space, the CR-V has one of the roomiest cargo areas in the class. With the rear seats folded down, that increases to 75.8 cubic feet.

It also has what U.S. News calls “a lively, efficient turbocharged engine.” The turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 190 hp and is paired with a CVT. It has great fuel efficiency for its class too. A hybrid powertrain option is also available. All trims come standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is optional.

It does not have many standard infotainment features, and U.S. News found its touchscreen controls to be “frustrating.” It does offer standard advanced safety features though. The CR-V’s base trim has only a 5.0-inch display screen, but the other trims have a 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Advanced safety features that come standard include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rearview camera. Additional advanced safety features are available: blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and front and rear parking sensors.

Does the 2021 Honda CR-V have a panoramic sunroof?

While sunroof and moonroof are often synonymous terms these days, a sunroof used to be a retractable or removable metal portion of the roof and a moonroof was a solid glass section of the roof that could rise slightly to let in air, according to Autolist. Today’s sunroofs do usually include glass, and both often have interior shades. Panoramic sunroofs are actually a type of moonroof. They have much larger areas of glass, are able to open farther than usual moonroofs, and are most common in SUVs.

The 2021 Honda CR-V does not have an available panoramic sunroof. All is not lost though, since it does offer a moonroof. The CR-V’s moonroof is standard on all trims except the base model, according to Honda. It has a one-touch power moonroof. It includes a tilt feature as well as an auto-reverse feature, which causes it to reverse directions if something is in its way when closing. The moonroof can be covered by a sliding sunshade, which is manually operated.

What features to expect

There are four trim levels of the non-hybrid 2021 Honda CR-V. There aren’t many luxury features included in the base LX trim, although it does provide advanced safety features. The LX comes standard with a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate control, a four-speaker stereo system, a USB port, and Bluetooth, says U.S. News.

The second trim, the EX, provides the touchscreen infotainment system plus that desired moonroof. It adds a six-speaker stereo system, satellite radio, HD Radio, a second USB port, plus two USB ports for the rear seats. It also has a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Outside, it provides heated side mirrors, LED fog lights, proximity keyless entry, and remote start. It adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert for its advanced safety features.

More luxury features begin to appear in the EX-L trim. It introduces leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, driver’s seat memory settings, and a four-way power-adjustable passenger’s seat. Other upgrades include an eight-speaker audio system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power liftgate, plus a universal garage door opener.

The top Touring trim adds navigation, a nine-speaker stereo system, and wireless device charging along with a heated steering wheel and ambient interior lighting. The CR-V Touring also has a hands-free liftgate, LED headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

The 2021 Honda CR-V has a starting price of $25,350, and its higher trims start at $27,860, $30,450, and $33,650. All-wheel drive is an additional $1,500, so a fully-loaded CR-V can cost more than $40,000. Starting prices for the CR-V Hybrid start between $30,560 and $36,350.

While the 2021 Honda CR-V does not have a panoramic sunroof, it does provide a standard moonroof on three of its four trims. The SUV also provides a spacious interior and a comfortable ride.
