White "M" painted on windshield
Hello,
I currently have a 2016 Maxima out for rental with 1800 miles on it. It wasn't in any aisle when I rented it. I just saw it in a large group of cars and drive off with it. I wasnt sure if the group of cars were recently returned, or recently washed and ready for rent... Heck, I didn't even know if it was a National car. I just gave it a shot.
Once I got off the lot I noticed it has a white block letter M painted on the windshield on there passenger side. Does anyone have any idea what this means? It's it something national does or just some weird random thing that a renter did somehow?
I can scrape it if with a razor, just curious if National marks cars like this for some reason?
Thanks! Love the new Max' by the way

Damaged cars are marked, but I have never seen one marked with a large letter on the windshield (unless the damage is there).
Still surprised how you got out of the lot especially if it was not a National car.

I think it probably was a National car. I just didn't know if it was at the time. They scanned the keys on my way out.

That's normally how cars are marked when they're due for a maintenance of some kind. I've had tons of cars with it. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Just curious, what makes you say that? Every time I've had one (and I can recall dozens), it's either an "M" or "PM" and the car is due for, or just returned from, some kind of maintenance.

In the locations that I go more often they mark some cars with M or mgr which usually are newer F or Pxar for managers use. I guess it depends on the location. Usually when is maintenances they take it off the lot or at least won't leave the keys in it.

It's clear that the OP's "M" is sort of wiped off, which is consistent with mine and others' experiences, which is that sometimes the "M" for maintenance is not fully erased after the car has been worked on.
All of the 2016 Maximas just got some recall work done so I suspect OP's had that work done (and it was taken out of rotation during that process).
I've never heard of it being used to designate a management vehicle, as the managers take those out of the fleet completely and no special designation is needed.
