Does Verizon Hum track your location? ›

Hum⁺ & Hum^× uses GPS for features including Safety Score, Vehicle Location, Driving History, Boundary Alerts, Pinpoint Roadside Assistance and Crash Response. These features identify the GPS location of the vehicle where the Hum OBD Reader is installed.

If you're a parent and a Verizon customer, Smart Family is a mobile subscription app you can download from an app store. Teens download the companion app to their devices, and parents set up profiles to track their teens' driving safety insights, such as speeding and hard braking.

Hum is only available via Verizon Wireless; Hum service operates on 4G LTE network only and requires data usage. Not all products are available in all areas.

A GPS tracker receives a GPS signal and sends location information, along with other vehicle data, back to a fleet management system via cellular 3G, 4G LTE, CDMA or satellite networks. Using your vehicle tracking system, you can then monitor your fleet in near real time.

The Vehicle Data Device (VDD) gathers information from the vehicle's Engine Control Module (ECM) and sends this information to Reveal. If the device is not installed using the Spotlight app or if the vehicle is not compatible: It will only operate in GPS mode. It will not gather data from the ECM.

What happens when you unplug Hum? ›

If you think your Hum OBD Reader has come unplugged, you can check the Hum App or portal to see if your driving history data has been recorded. If you forget, Hum will automatically notify you if your Hum OBD Reader has been unplugged for 10 days.

Flip the Handsfree on/off switch on the Hum speaker to the On position. Open your phone's Bluetooth settings, and turn Bluetooth On. Press and hold the Phone button on the Hum speaker for about 5 seconds, until the blue lights starts to flash. Then select hum on your phone.

Hum costs $14.99 per month, and if you sign up for a two-year subscription you get the first month free. The equipment comes at no extra cost with the service, and additional vehicles cost $12.99 each per month.
