Born in Wilmington, North Carolina on March 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Christian Heide and Nell Hunter Trask. Surviving are her children, Heide Wood Seward (Bernard), John Gilliam Wood IV (Susan), and Edward Wadsworth Wood; her grandchildren, John Gilliam Wood V (Laura Beth), George Christian Wood, Caroline Wood McHenry (Ryan), and Anna Katherine Wood, and her great-grandchildren, John Gilliam VI and Gibson Wood McHenry.
