Why did I choose Medical Technology: It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. I suddenly thought that I want to become a doctor and I heard that the program is one of the best premed course there is.
About my college education: I had a difficult time because I had lost interest during my last two years. All I wanted then was to get it over with. I felt so tired and I almost gave up. I stopped pushing myself to persevere. But during the final months before graduation, I tried very hard to bring back the interest I had and the will myself to finish the course. I was so lucky that I was able to graduate. Looking back to it, I am really grateful that I didn't give up. I've been through a lot and it would be such a waste if I let my dreams go that easily.
Passion, dedication and courage are necessary if you taking a plunge in this course. Care for the well-being of others is highly appreciated. The skills can easily be acquired if you work hard and work smart. Practice a lot. There is no room for carelessness. You always have to be cautious and attentive. Presence of mind is important. Have a good public-relations skills. Learn to communicate well with people because you always have to interact with different kinds of patient and other health workers with different attitudes. Patience and understanding are needed to survive. Always have a positive outlook in life to be enjoy what you do.
My current job: Staff Medical Technologist at a private hospital.
Am I using what I learned in college: What I learned in school and during my internship is definitely what awaits me in the real world, and so much more. My phlebotomy skills gets better in every blood extraction that I made. I get to appreciate the ideas and concepts that I only read in books. I encounter more abnormalities in analysis of urine and other body fluids. I am able to correlate the result of complete blood count and blood chemistry to the patients' diagnosis whenever stated. It is like I'm learning all over again but this time, I am solely responsible of my actions in the aim to cure the patients so accuracy and precision is really needed.
How long did it take to find a job: It took me 5 months after graduation before I found a job because I needed to review and take the licensure examination during the first 4 months. It just took me a month after I passed to find a job.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: There is a very high demand for medical technologists nowadays, local or abroad, so the employment opportunities are always up for grabs - may it be in the practice of the profession in hospitals and clinics, fields of research, sales, or business.
You get to learn more as you continue to practice the profession and participate in different conventions and seminars. There are always new advances and modernization in clinical laboratory practices so the intellectual and professional growth is endless.
Although, I do not recommend it to those who are looking for high salary level. The salary is not that much if you are just practicing as medical technologist. To have better salary, you can have multiple jobs at a time, get proficiency trainings -- you really need to work hard to earn more. Many choose to work overseas for better salary.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: In taking up BS Medical Technology, one should really have the passion in what we actually do. It is very stress-inducing, mind-draining, and physically and emotionally exhausting but if you really love what you do, it is very fulfilling and rewarding as you make your way to graduation and through the board exam. It demands a great amount of time and sacrifice yet it will be all worth it when you reached your goal. Dedication and patience are must-haves. Strong will and a great deal of fighting-spirit will help you get through the course. Just don't give up easily and you will definitely reap the fruit of your labor.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: I chose this as a pre-med course in my goal to pursue medicine.
About my college education: The difficult part of my course was the major subjects in third year. But now that I have gone through all of those. I have realized that they are the most important and most useful. It is wise to know those subjects by heart because you will use them for a long time. Once you learn to understand those subjects it isn't as hard as it looks. Hematology is particularly easy if you really try to look into it and understand it. Same goes for blood bank, parasitology, microbiology, etc. If you love science then nothing will ever be boring.
There are dull moments in the classroom. But the internship is epic and something you will forever remember. You should have perseverance and you should be always willing to learn new things. Never settle for less.
My current job: As of now, I am a medical student.
Am I using what I learned in college: Yes. I have used a lot of things I learned in college. In medicine there are a lot of subjects that can be related to my course. Especially in 2nd year of medicine. Like Medical Technology, Medicine also has microbiology and parasitology as subjects. Pathology is also a subject in medicine that is understood better with our line of course.
How long did it take to find a job: Since I am still studying I am not employed. But all my friends and classmates who applied for work as Medical Technologists were all accepted immediately. Since a lot of places have scarcity when it comes to Medical Technologists. Sometimes other companies even hire Medtechs who are not yet licensed. That's how much they have the need for medtechs nowadays.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: Yes. The salary is good. The employment opportunities are endless.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: My advice to you is take it easy. Don't give yourself such a hard time. Enjoy your 4 years in college. But when you reach your 3rd and 4th year of college, while enjoying the course, learn to know things and the topics by heart. Because these are the subjects that you will truly use when you finish college. It will help a lot, I guarantee it.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: The real reason why I end up in this course is just accidental, not that I don't like the course or being pressured by my parents. Honestly, I don't have any idea what course really to take up in college. The idea of a college students doesn't sink in my mind that time. So, I let my parents help me to decide. My father wanted me to become a Chemist just like him and my mother also suggested to take up BS Pharmacy just like her in Centro Escolar University in Manila. I love the idea of my mom because I wanted to be near with my first girlfriend who is studying Tourism at Lyceum Manila at the time. My mother doesn't like the idea of my main purpose of choosing here preferred course for me that's why it didn't materialize.
About my college education: I learned a lot while studying BS in Medical Technology, from studying to working. The same thing I applied in my life today, it builds my self confidence and self reliant. It makes me become of what I am today, a better person.
Parasitology subjects for me is the most hardest to pass because you will need to memorized the life cycle of every parasites and it really bores me out. At the same time, the most hardest thing to find a specimen of parasites to show it to your professor from fecal sample.
Blood Banking subjects was for me the most enjoyable and it really amazed me. Blood that saves lives.
In our school you have to proved yourself, not only in theory but also in practical. In our time, in Clinical Chemistry subjects almost all of us got to re take the examination again because our Dean is worried that almost all of us students didn't pass the exam. Out of 100 plus students only 5 passed with a grade of 81 is the highest. 78 of us re take the exams and the remaining automatically failed. Out of 78 only 19 of us passed the test. Almost all of my classmates repeat the subjects and have to wait for another school year as most of the subjects are per-requisite others are forced to transfer to other schools.
My current job: I am currently working as a Registered Medical Technologist at Western Visayas Regional Blood Center in Philippine Red Cross Iloilo.
We are in Blood Bank facility. We collect bloods from our volunteer donors in the office and during Mass Blood Donation. Examine the blood carefully and process the blood into components. After examinations and counter checking of blood from a fellow Medical Technologists. Most of our blood is being sent to our satellites hospitals for the benefits of our patients. But since, the blood we collected from our volunteer donor is not enough, not everyone is given the privilege the equal opportunity to extend the lives of others due to shortage of blood. Because we are also the one assessing if we will give blood to their patients. Luckily for some when I was the one assigned during my duty at the Blood Dispensing Area, I can really assess the real condition of the patients compare to my other co employee because I am also a REGISTERED NURSE. After I passed the licensure examinations for BS Medical Technology in 1999 and working for several years as Med. Tech., I tried to make a sudden shift of career moves, I enrolled BS Nursing in West Negros College in Bacolod City from year 2003-2004. Working professionals as others may call us because I worked as Medical Technology by day during weekdays and study nursing in the evening and weekend.
Am I using what I learned in college: Perseverance and self reliant at works are the most important things that I used in my life until now. If you have the confidence in your mind, nothing is impossible.
How long did it take to find a job: It didn't take me about 4 months.
After I graduated in college, I, just self study here in our school and go to Manila right after for an extensive review for the upcoming board exams for Medical Technology. Even though I was only reviewing there, the owner of the place in which I stayed in for 2 months had already offered me a job at her Dormitory as a Marketing Manager, though the compensation is not the high but the I was very pleased and happy. It is not my course related job but the idea of someone has given you the trust that you can do it makes my confidence more stronger to take any challenges life may brings. After I took and passed the Board Examination for Medical Technology, the owner of the Review Center has also offer me a job to market his review center in our place on a commission basis. Of course, I accept it. I already have two jobs in that span without having each other rather complement it. A place to stay in Manila as well as a review center. From there, the education and the training that my schools gave to me further grows. Giving me self confidence and the knowledge to face any obstacles in my chosen career.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: I would really recommend BS in Medical Technology because very few are taking this course and have a great demand in abroad especially in the U.S. and the pay is high and competitive.
Salary level for fresh graduates in general is similar not that high compare to those with experiences. You may take it as stepping stone in working abroad as we all know working in our country does not pay good but once you are equipped with years of experience and exams, you have a greater chance of making your dreams come true. Unlike nurses, that they are the one paying in order to gain volunteer experience, med. techs. don't wait too long to be hired.
Being a licensed/registered Medical Technologists is a very fulfilling career in our because doctors are very dependents on our laboratory works. They based their diagnosis and treatments from our results. In the Philippines only Nurses and Doctors are always mentioned seldom med. techs. that gave credits to the recovery of the patients but in the U.S. we are called Clinical Laboratory Scientists in the U.S. we are treated with class. Doing all the dirty things to give them reliable results.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: My only advice to people who are considering studying BS in Medical Technology is that being a Medical Technologist is not that simple. It will take your guts and hard work to finished this course. Doctor's based their diagnosis based on our laboratory results. So life technically in the hospital is based on the skilled of a medical technologist to examine blood and other specimens of human to save lives. So, before considering what best school to take up BS Medical Technology course, considered it first as really your CHOICE. Don't get be influenced of the people around you. Life is serious as life is a Medical Technologist who helps doctor save lives.

About my college education: My course is challenging, difficult, tough yet enjoyable. I need to memorize and understand many informations like in our subject in Bacteriology and Parasitology. I also need to have patience and try not to become sleepy when I'm reviewing. Although it's hard, it is enjoyable as well.Especially when I got to read on the components of our blood and other body fluids as well as the diseases that our body may suffer.
As a BS Medical technology student, you need to have patience and be hard working specially when you are in your internship. You need to adapt in the hospital settings on which you can truly apply what you are studying. You need to have confidence and most specially faith in God because it is not easy to deal with patients, the laboratory staffs as well your co-interns. A student of this course needs to trust himself in order to do the job you need to do like blood extraction. One must always remember the laws and ethics and discipline not just a student but as a training individual.
My current job: I'm still reviewing for my board exam this coming March 2013, but for almost 3 months I have training experiences in a clinic near my location.
Am I using what I learned in college: I used what I learned from our school as well as from the hospital where I have spent my 6 months internship.
For what I have used during my training months, I apply what I learn manually. I read the blood smear as well as the urine on a glass slide microscopically. Because it's a primary clinic, there is no new technology there like the machines so it will be the one who will read the blood or the specimens.
But then I'm planning to apply on a tertiary hospital and I'm sure I can apply what I've learned about using the machines in the hospital laboratory/.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: I recommend this course because a lot of hospital and clinics here and abroad is looking for a medical technologist.
The job is hard, but if you are dedicated to help people and you will enjoy what you are going to do, surely it will lessen your stress.
Of course the work is difficult but as you go through and pursue, nothing will beat you. There will be friends who will support you and be with you also.
As for the salary, it depends on what type of hospital but from where I have spent my internship one of my staff told me that he has lots of benefits. I also ask one of our junior staff there, and after a year of hard work she is earning 15-20k a month (sorry not remember so well therefore I put a range) .
But always remember that you must love your job because you will reap what you sow.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: Bcause it's the best preparatory course for Medicine and a good course as well if you decide to work after the course is completed.
About my college education: As a young adult when I first step in that University I thought it will be easy fulfilling my dreams. It was difficult at the beginning since I am not yet ready for the changes that I have to face but eventually as I became familiar of the things that I should learn, it became easy. Getting used to meeting the microorganisms around us everyday made it happy and funny to my co-students all the time. The different colors and shape of it is interesting but what makes it more amazing is learning the life cycle of those little animals around us.
Skills and attitude wise, you should be very keen in observing the small details so that you will learn everything in it. You should be observant, flexible, easy to cope with co workers around you and of course you must be ready to learn everyday as you continuously learn more organisms each day.
My current job: Businesswoman
How long did it take to find a job: One week after I graduated I started working in Tertiary Laboratory who caters all lines of Medicine.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: Yes I strongly recommend Medical Technology cause employment opportunity wise, we need huge number of Med Techs locally. Med Tech is very fulfilling cause we help lots of people on what they need. Compensation is good enough after all the hardships we had back then when we are still studying and if God permits you can always pursue Medicine in the future.

About my college education: During our freshman and sophom*ore year, we have a total of 7 sections. Everything went well during this time. As we enter 3rd year, this is where the REAL BATTLE begins. Everyone will tell you that 3rd years is very hard so you must come in prepared. But no one will tell you how the system sucks!
3rd years 1st sem, we were around 5 or 6 sections? You will be classified according to how smart/intelligent you are. Section A and B, composed of students who are trying to continue the course but you will fail anyway. C and D, average kids. E and F, smart kids.
3rd years 2nd sem, from 5 or 6 sections, we were down to 4 sections. In this sem, even though you're a Dean Lister when you were a freshman, or a valedictorian in high-school and elementary, it won't matter. It doesn't matter. Section A and B, smart kids. Section C and D, average kids trying to get through. At the end of this sem, some of the students from A and B, failed in their major subjects. Either, you will be delayed and retake it next year OR transfer to other school, overload and still march on time. Most of the students from C and D didn't make it.
I have a few batch mates who are Deans lister during our 1st years and 2nd years but they failed in 3rd years 2nd sem. So they transferred to other schools in Manila, and bang, now, they all pass the boards. All of them.
Am I using what I learned in college: More on the theoretical side not on the practical side/what you do on the hospital. Focus only on books.

About my college education: Entering college for me is my stepping stone to my goals and dreams therefore when I enter College I make sure that I will enjoy my studies to also get away from stress.
BS Medical Technology was my third course. The subjects were difficult during my third and fourth year. those are the major ones that's why.
Clinical chemistry, Blood banking, Clinical Microscopy, Bacteriology, Parasitlogy, Mycology, Virology and Hematology.. reading the subjects names it seems so difficult but I realize that when you got to enjoy what you are doing especially during practical applications you will realize how amazing those you are learning in each field. Yes, you need to memorize lots of bacterias, parasites and viruses with difficult names which will make you twist your tounges and study the blood and other body fluids contents and diseases correlated to them but what's make it interesting is that my mind got opened to the reality about what's happening inside and outside our body. I became more conscious about everything because I got some knowledge about the importance of health. It's tough and challenging but there is no such thing as "surrender" to me, because everytime I think of my dreams the more I pursue and push myself to study hard.And now one of my goals I already reached. I have graduated atlast and going to make more push for the coming board exam (March 19 and 20, 2013).
You just need to become a reliable, patient, and hard working student but don't forget to enjoy your studies.
My current job: I have no current job because I am just going to take my licensure exam. But I have already worked in a primary clinic for almost 6 months. I look for a job in order to earn while I am waiting for the board exam. I was accepted to be trained by my good boss.
Am I using what I learned in college: At school, the applications of the methods like in Urinalysis and Hematology is manual. Using machines were taught in the hospital.
Now, when I got my first job I apply some of my knowledge from school but you will also learn some more simple steps which produce the results you are looking for. There were no new technology in a primary laboratory (only in secondary and tertiary particularly at the hospitals) therefore it is expected that you will use your naked eyes and exert extra more effort in the job.Just maintain the positive attitude in every situation (especially when drawing blood from the patient, I really keep my mind so it will be easy).
How long did it take to find a job: After graduation I review first to take the board exam of September 2012 but because of my nervousness, I decided to take it this March 2013.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: I would recommend my course since it is in demand locally and abroad. You just be patient as you go job hunting if you want a satisfaction regarding salary.
Don't expect too much with the primary lab but for higher income make it to the hospital.Some offer 12k and others 15k then 20k up after a year (exclusive in government hospitals..not those hospitals owned by municipals).
When you are intersted to be a doctor, BS Med tech is a better premed course. You cn also take Masterals if you want to teach.
You can also find job in Drug testing analysis.
Usually in abroad, you need to have an experience first using technology or machines.
But for me, everything I've one through is a special piece of puzzle of my journey in life. Always remember patience is bitter but the fruits are sweet.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: For the love of being in service to mankind.
About my college education: We were able to get to know about the micro-organisms that can cause disease. We grow bacteria in culture media and then kill them with antibiotics. We study the human blood and count blood cells.
As to the skills, you have to have very good eyes. "Only medtechs can see things beyond the capacity of the naked eye." You must know how to use a microscope very well to be efficient.
My current job: I am actually enrolled in a medical school as of the moment. I did not apply for a job because I was planning on pursuing post-graduate studies in the college of medicine.
Am I using what I learned in college: Well, yes. During my internship, I was able to apply everything I learned at school. As in everything. From blood extraction to microbiological exams.
If I may add, the knowledge I acquired from my medtech days have been of so much help to me now that I am enrolled in the college of medicine. 3rd year medtech is very much the same with 2nd year medicine proper.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: Yes. Philippines needs so much of laboratory personnel.
As to salary, I heard that it's not really much, unfortunately.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Make sure that you're into it. Maybe you may want to take into consideration the financial part. Medtechs don't make much here in the Philippines.

About my college education: Being a medtech student was difficult as well as fun. You'll know it when you get there. (no to spoiler) You don't have to be intelligent naman just to pass this course (matalino nga tamad naman), you should study hard and wag po puro kabisa lang. Wag nyo kong gayahin HAHAHA. If you fail in a certain quiz don't be so lugmok, bumangon ka at bawiin mo nalang sa susunod. *fighting lang ganern*

About my college education: I graduated high school in 1986, just a month after EDSA Revolution. So Cory fever was still in the air and everyone was hopeful (although some Marcos loyalists were dismayed) . Being a graduate from an exclusive school for girls going to a university was interesting and challenging. So you widen your circle of friends and acquaintances. It was my time to be given the freedom to commute by myself, to go to parties without chaperone, eat out or watch movies with classmates and friends. There was no McDonalds or Jollibee yet near UST and we have to go to Morayta. We have to go to SM North EDSA if we wanted to watch movies or go malling. College life was fun, too.
On top of having interpersonal, analytical, problem solving skills (any other skills for that matter), discipline should top the list. No spoon-feeding, you have to research or discover things on your own. There was no internet then, so we do research at the library. It was in college that I've learned and appreciated to use a diary/planner because everyday, professors would give assignments, and schedule tests. And mind you, some of those professors were the textbook authors so there's no way of fooling them. It was normal to find a day in my planner to have one or two quizzes or tests from two subjects. Not only that, my extra-curricular activities made my college life more challenging and exciting as well.
My current job: I'm now a freelance writer, work at home mom. I practiced the profession briefly and started writing in 1999.
Am I using what I learned in college: Yes. Although I'm no longer practicing the profession, the lessons I've learned in college are still used. I can't be fooled in any hospital or a clinic; I know chemistry and math. My various employments have helped me become what I am today on top of my basic, secondary and tertiary education.
How long did it take to find a job: Right after the last day of the board examinations, being a Sunday, I bought a copy of Manila Bulletin because of its Classified Ads. It took me a week to find my first job in sales. It may not be related to my course but I learned from it.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: The reason why I chose BS Medical Technology was I wanted to be a doctor. However, during that 4-year course, I discovered my love in writing. Transferring was not an option for me back then (and that's another story) . BS Med Tech is a good pre-med course because by 2nd year proper, almost all Med Tech subjects will be tackled. I remember the one who topped the Med Tech board exam that time was a 2nd year medicine student. As for a Med Tech career, if ever I stuck with it, and pursued a Med Tech career path, I would opt to be in the forensics.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: I wanted a course that's related to science and medicine.
About my college education: It was really hard. You have to put a lot of efforts to pass the program. What more difficult is that we have to meet a certain average for us to advance to a higher year. But, taking this course is what I really wanted so I took it as my inspiration to finish what I've started.
My current job: I'm currently reviewing for the licensure exam.
Am I using what I learned in college: I don't have a job at this moment. But I have applied the theoretical principles that I have learned in the academe when I had my internship.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: If you want to be a part of health care team, or you want to take Medicine, this course fits you.

Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Take this, love it and it will love you back. There would be times that you will feel weak, you'll get tired; but don't give up. Just rest and continue. Always remember the time you get started. Keep your faith and study hard.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: I was encouraged by my father and uncle who are also a BS Medical Technology Graduates and now licensed Medical Technologists. And because I wanted to be a doctor, I wanted to proceed to Medicine.
About my college education: BS in Medical Technology for me was moderate. There are ups and downs which I survives during my college days. There are some problems occurred, especially in some requirements which I needed to accomplished for me to pass a certain subject. Some of my batch mates shifted for some reasons, like they were not able to pass or they were not able to complete the requirements and some were able to continue their course in other school.
My current job: I am not working right now, I am reviewing in preparation of our board exam. My main goal right now is to pass the board exam and have my licensed for me to get a job immediately.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: BS in Medical Technology course is the best preparation for the one who is planning to proceed to Medicine. It is good also for employment here in the Philippines and abroad.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: You need to study harder if you really want to be a Medical Technologist. Be patient in some other cases for you to complete the requirements needed especially in some laboratories work.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: Being a Medtech you are able to see things that is not visible to the naked eye.
About my college education: You'll learn to identify different kinds of bacteria, parasites, virus, and fungus which are not visible to the naked eye.
My current job: I am Medical Technologist in a hospital and also a Drug Analyst in a Drug testing Center.
Am I using what I learned in college: All of it. Laboratory Procedure, Rules and everything I need to know.
How long did it take to find a job: I did not look for a job after graduation. I took the licensure examination first and applied for a vacant job which took me less than a week.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: Yes.
If you are planning to be a Doctor, Medical Technology is the best preparatory course.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: This course is a good preparation for Medicine. This would be valuable in the clinical practice of a doctor. This will provide the doctor a laboratory exam result that will guide him or her in diagnosing the patient.
About my college education: There were so many that I learned from this course like making the laboratory exams of different specimen from the patients, identifying the strains and the type of bacteria.
There is no difficulty in the subjects. The teachers explain those topics that are hard to understand. The student should read and try to understand what he is reading.
Every student will pass if he is not lazy to read, listen, and understand.
My current job: Since I married a Doctor of Medicine and my mother, a pediatrician retired from her many years of practice, I and my wife are now using the clinic of my mother. My job is to assist my wife in her practice as pediatrician. I do the laboratory exams and manage the clinic.
Am I using what I learned in college: This course has taught me how to examine and identify the bacteria in a specimen. As an assistant to my wife I do the examinations of urine, stool, etc.
How long did it take to find a job: After a year I and my wife started our clinic.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: This course does not really get a high pay. It is only complementary to the work of a doctor. It can only be in a position to earn money if one has enough capital to establish a business in diagnostics and laboratory.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: If one would like to work or have his own diagnostics clinic, this course can be of great help.

About my college education: Llearning how to be a medical technologist is really exciting and enjoying but it is also very hard because there are a lot of analyzations and memorizations.
My current job: A medical technologist
Am I using what I learned in college: yes I am definitely using it, all of the things that I have learned especially in hematology, microbiology, immunology and serology.

About my college education: It was difficult, challenging but at the same time interesting. AUP maintains its high standard especially when it comes to BSMT. So it was not an easy course. It doesn't require much Math skills, but a lot of memorization.
My current job: English and Science teacher
Am I using what I learned in college: I am teaching Science now so I am able to use the knowledge I gained in college.
How long did it take to find a job: It only took me 3 months.
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: BS Medical Technology is a tough course I would say. It is a great pre-med course. So for those who are really into med school or for those who really want to work in the lab and hospital setting, this is a great course to take.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: I wanted to work in the medical field
About my college education: I've learned to know more stuff about science and in medical world. Also learned on how to deal with patient.
Every subject is difficult that you need to give an effort to it because you need to learn from it, but for me it gives me hard time to understand the subjects of Immunology and Serology.
The Medtech Board exam is difficult of course you have to give effort to it.
My current job: I work as Medical Technologist in the Laboratory part of the Hospital - one of the basic simply getting samples from the patient and testing it for diagnosis, to know whats the patients concern for possible disease.
How long did it take to find a job: 3 Months, after Applying and Interview
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: You should be in Focus on the coming exam, give more time to study even though - you finish already college and just waiting for the exam days.

Why did I choose Medical Technology: I really wanted to take up something related to medicine.
About my college education: MedTech is a very interesting course. You can learn about chemistry, microbiology, hematology and other related disciplines. It is very tough and you need to have retentive memory for all the information and the theories that you need to remember and understand. You also need a lot of positive outlook and patience.
My current job: I am a laboratory technician.
How long did it take to find a job: 17 months
Do I recommend studying Medical Technology: At this time, job availability to qualified candidates is relatively good.
Advice to people who are thinking of studying this course: Every course out there are difficult on it's own, you just have to find that one degree program that will suit your skills and your interest best! And when you happen to discover that it is MedTech, then, good for you! For this will be a wonderful journey for you! I hope you will be able to surpass all the difficulties that you may encounter! Why did I choose Medical Technology: I took this course as my pre-med.
My current job: I used to work as a med.tech in a free standing lab in the Philippines. Then I went abroad and worked as a Lab.Tech. on a canine NK cell research laboratory. Now working as a Lab.Tech. in an international Vet referral hospital.
Am I using what I learned in college: Everything I learned is useful and now applied on work.
How long did it take to find a job: 8 months (6 months for board exam preparation plus 2 months after board exam).
