"10 Things Every Child Needs explores ways parents and caregivers canenhance a child's brain development. Its roadmap, the 10 essential thingschildren need, can help ensure that children will reach their full potentialand become thriving adults. Cutting-edge research and comments from earlychildhood development experts, including T. Berry Brazelton, Bruce Perry, J.Felton Earls, Irving Harris, April Benasich, and Barbara Bowman, allcontribute to the presentation. "Dr. Bruce Perry, a neurobiologist andchild development expert from Baylor College of Medicine uses 6-year-oldtwins to illustrate how maternal interaction influences development. Inanother segment, Dr. J. Felton Earls, principal investigator for the Projecton Human Development in Chicago, explains the effects of stress on a child'sdevelopment and talks about how children rely on caregivers as 'socialbuffers' in the presence of alarming social situations.
