Introduction to SWTOR 6.0 EndGame

You have finished your leveling and your character is at level 75 now. From this point on you begin the grind through the EndGame. Your goal is to obtain the best possible gear for your needs.

The best gear for your character is not necessary the top gear available, but in this guide, I will cover all the bases, just so you know what you can aim for and I will leave it up to you to decide where to stop.

All gear that you obtain during the EndGame grind is bound to your whole Legacy.

What is the SWTOR EndGame

The EndGame in SWTOR begins after you reach the level cap, which currently is 75. At this point you will be most likely done with the main storyline. You would have also completed any side story chains you came across. If not, that’s no problem. You can finish them at any time in the future as long as you have the missions in your mission log

To properly participate in the EndGame you may consider subscribing to SWTOR. A Subscription is technically not required, but the limitations and penalties of playing as Preferred status player may be overwhelming to some of you, especially if you have no experience with other F2P MMO games.

You can enjoy SWTOR in a Preferred mode as well. If you do not have the time to play a lot or if you don’t care about the limitations to how many characters you have, the amount of money you can store, the number of EndGame content runs you are limited to – by all means stay as Preferred and enjoy the game at your own pace!

The EndGame content is in large portion the same content you have already done in your path to 75.

Usually when EndGame is concerned, we are talking about the group content you can play through and repeat over and over. There are some options to grind for your gear solo like doing Heroics alone, farming Story Chapters or perhaps doing Daily Missions.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (1)

On the image above you see the Group Tab of the Activities Window. Check out my SWTOR User Interface: The Complete Guide to learn more about this tool.

This guide focuses primarily on the group content. That’s what will give you the best chance and speed to gear up your character with the best gear they have access to. Here are the main bullet points:

What are Heroics

Heroics are group content available in the open world or in a separate instance. You can solo most of them if that’s how you prefer to play. That’s why they are available in the Solo tab of the Activities Window, under the Planetary category.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (2)

To play Heroic Missions, all you have to do is open your Activities Window and find the Heroics list. Alternatively, you could pick them up manually, but that would require going to the NPC Quest Giver on each planet and location and that’s something you would most likely not enjoy doing.

Heroics are slow to earn you the endgame gear, but are easy and can earn you a good amount of Credits.

What are Flashpoints and Uprisings

Flashpoints and Uprisings are four-men groups instanced challenges that take anywhere between 15-20 minutes up to an hour or so. There is a great chance you have participated in some while leveling up.

Flashpoints

Some Flashpoints have a solo mode, others don’t. The ones that do have this option, are part of the main storyline of the game.

There are easy and tough Flashpoints in SWTOR. You will likely read a lot of spam in the Fleet Chat of players going for Hammer Station or Red Reaper. These two are relatively short and easy.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (3)

Flashpoints are currently the easiest, quickest and therefore the best method of gearing up your character at level 75. If you have a stable group of friends or a guild to play with, the grind can also be a lot of fun, even when you repeat the same content over and over.

Flashpoints are generally available in Solo (not all), Story, Veteran and Master Mode difficulties. The higher the difficulty, the better the loot drops and rewards at the end.

Check out the Flashpoints Guides list for some tips on how to defeat the more challenging boss encounters and complete the instances quicker and easier for improved productivity.

Uprisings

Uprisings are a largely neglected four-men content in SWTOR. Released in the 5.0+ era, these instanced combat scenarios happen in familiar places instead of on unique terrain, as the Flashpoints do.

Uprisings are not a good nor fast way to gear up. They are a lot less rewarding and therefore ignored by the better part of the SWTOR population.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (4)

Uprisings can be fun, though. As it happens – everything you do rewards you in this expansion, so you should give them a try. If you have a solid team, these could be a lot of fun. Some of the Uprisings are also quite challenging.

Looking for some help? The Uprisings Guides list will help you overcome any obstacle in this group content and teach you how to defeat the encounters.

What are Operations

Operations are the true EndGame of SWTOR’s PvE. They are eight- or sixteen-men instanced raid-type of content. There is nothing challenging that an Operation, especially if run in high difficulty.

In some cases some Operations in Veteran and Master Mode have fixed loot drops, so you know what to aim for.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (5)

Unlike Flashpoints, Operations have lockouts. Once you complete it, your character will be locked out for the remainder of the week.

That’s where playing alts and transferring gear comes into play. More on that later.

Story Mode Operations are relatively easy and very new-player-friendly. If you are playing a Tank, you might need a bit of advice on how to tackle specific mechanics in the Operation you are about to do, but for DPS and Healers, their task is pretty simple and straightforward.

Veteran Mode Operations have a high demand for skill and gear to tackle them. It is best if you do a few runs through an Operation in Story Mode and gets yourself familiar with the mechanics before you jump into Veteran Mode.

Master Mode difficulty is reserved for the most skilled and well-geared players. The challenge there is incredibly hard and if you are reading this guide, chances are you are a new player. If so, then you have a bit of a stair to climb before you are ready to do Master Mode Operations.

What are Warzones and Arenas

PvP in SWTOR is available from a very low level. It is a whole another game at level 75, though.

Warzones are 8v8 games where you have a specific objective you need to complete and follow through to win.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (6)

Arenas are 4v4 skirmish matches where the last man standing wins the game for their team.

PvP in SWTOR is split into Unranked (Warzones usually with occasional Arenas popping in) and Ranked (Arenas only).

Gearing at level 75 through PvP is not as quick as farming Flashpoints, but is a rewarding way to play your character. No two matches are the same in PvP, because you play with different players, on different maps with different objectives.

Read the extended SWTOR PvP EndGame Guide for new players to get all the details about the available game modes, how to join, what requirements you need to cover and most of all – how to be prepared for the challenges in PvP!

What is Renown

This is a supplementary level 75-only system granting you a new Rank as you play the game, complete missions and earn Renown Points.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (7)

Literally, every action you complete rewards you with Renown Points. Each Rank requires you to earn 160 000 Renown Points.

Each day a different category from the Activities Window will grant you a bonus Renown for doing that specific type of content.

Before 6.0 this system existed in a slightly different model and was called Galactic Command.

The Ranks you earn are purely cosmetic. There is a hard cap, but it will be reset with major updates like Expansions and such. Even at the Renown cap, you still get renown boxes each time you complete a Renown level cycle.

The contents of the Renown Crates you get each time you rank up are random. They some times may contain a piece of gear, but given the fact that this is a secondary gearing system, you should not rely on it for your gear.

To access the Renown Stash, click the little Renown button on the left side of your Inventory screen. You can also access it from the Activities Window (bottom of it).

What is Conquest

I recently updated my Conquest Guide. BioWare has done so many revisions of the Conquest system over the years since its first release, I can’t even count them any more. And they keep tweaking and changing parts of it with pretty much every patch.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (8)

The Conquest system is also a supplementary way to grant you additional rewards like crafting materials and gear.

Each character has a weekly goal of Conquest points to earn. If your guild participates in Conquest you can also earn the Guild Reward if the guild reaches the set goal.

Conquest events reset each Tuesday and last for a week. During that tyime you can choose to participate in it by completing any of the many (many!) objectives available. Nearly anything you do in SWTOR is somehow related to the Conquest system and will reward you Conquest points.

Other EndGame Content

This group would include any group missions that do not fall into any of the categories listed above. These could be one-boss Operations and special event bosses. Although they are Operation-like content, they do not follow the Operations loot rules always.

Here I include also the Renown ranks that you gain passively as you play as well as the Conquest objectives and weekly goals that you complete.

What changed in 6.0+

With the release of the 6.0 Onslaught expansion BioWare yet again revamped and redesigned the gearing system in SWTOR. If you are a returning veteran you will be surprised at how different everything is compared to previous years and expansion eras.

The current gearing system is called “Spoils of War“. It allows you to earn your EndGame gear no matter what you do.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (9)

As mentioned above, you still have better and faster ways to gear up and not every option is equally rewarding for your time spent, but it’s up to you to decide how you want to approach your gearing process.

Every single gear piece now is Legacy Bound. This allows you to move items through your Legacy Bank across your other characters and speed up the farming process. This is especially useful if you prefer to do Operations.

The Spoils of War gearing system in 6.0 relies a lot on Randomness. The RNG effect is deeply incorporated into your gearing process, but a lot of mechanics are also implemented to narrow the RNG curve and help you cut corners here and there.

What is Scaled Content

Another big change is also the scaled content. In 6.0 BioWare introduced Scaled Content (to level 70) and Level 75 Content categories. Thanks to that your character’s optimal gear and stats are slightly different for level 70 and level 75 challenges.

If you opt to do Heroics or any other activity that is available for characters below level 75, your level will be scaled accordingly to the planet/location where the activity takes place. In the case of the image above, this characer is currently doing Hoth Heroics.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (10)

In general only the newest Flashpoint and Operation are available without scale down effect. Everything else, all the group content in the game scales your character down to level 70. You do not lose any abilities, but your stats are affected and some are even capped.

You should take a look into the SWTOR 6.0+ Class Guides List to learn more about your class and build – what is ideal for what situation, how to approach the stats balance issue for your specific role and so on.

How Gearing works in SWTOR EndGame

The process is not very fast, but if done properly and smart, is not too tedious and boring either. In fact you can turn the grind into a ton of fun time. Let’s dive deep to find out what you need to get yourself started!

How to find your Character’s Item Rating (IR)

To determine what content you are ready for, you first need to get a basic understanding of how well your character is currently geared.

If you finish Onslaught, you are already wearing a gear of Item Rating (IR) 268. Item Rating is the average stats that the game calculates for you, helping you understand where you are at in the Vertical Progression.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (11)

To find your current IR, open your Character’s Sheet and check the second row in the top left, below your name. The current top IR in SWTOR is 306

The EndGame Gearing process in SWTOR is split into a Vertical and Horizontal progression. The next few paragraphs will detail what each one of these is and how it works.

What is Vertical Progression

The Vertical Progression is the period in which your character grinds through the IR items all the way up to IR306. Reminder – this is currently the highest tier of gear.

You start the Vertical Progression at IR268 and end up at IR306. You cannot skip steps. The game is designed in a way that you will only get items of IR as high as +2 compared to your current IR.

Simply put if you are IR 280, your loot and rewards will be of IR up to 282. Rare chances and luck (or bugs) may result in you getting a higher tier piece, but these are more like exceptions to the rule.

The Vertical Progression moves by two numbers. This means that the tiers you need to go through are: 268, 270, 272, 274 and so on all the way to 306.

The colors of the tiers of gear pieces is also confusing for many, probably. As you progress through the tiers the color of the items will also change. To make it a little easier to understand, here is a quick and simple breakdown.

  • Green – Premium, lowest tier, IR 268 to IR 274
  • Blue – Prototype, IR 276 to IR 284
  • Purple – Artifact, IR 286 to IR 298
  • Gold (some call it Yellow) – Legendary, highest tier – IR 300 to IR 306

The tier of the gear piece is displayed at the very top of the item-s tooltip. Check the background color in the Title area.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (12)

What is Horizontal Progression

Once you are done with the Vertical Progression and your IR is 306, it is time to start paying attention to the single pieces of gear that you have equipped.

The Horizontal progression is generally a much slower and more expensive process than the Vertical one.

On the left side of your Character Sheet you have your armor set. On the bottom are your weapons or weapon and shield or weapon and tool (based on class and role). On the left side are Relics, Implants and Tactical.

The Horizontal progression involves you finding the best possible items for each slot and reaching the best stats balance. Again, consult with your SWTOR Class Guide for your perfect build.

What are Tech Fragments

In SWTOR 6.0+ your Vertical and Horizontal gearing progression is a tedious process. To speed things up you can reach out to one of the shortcuts I mentioned earlier.

Tech Fragments are a brand new currency introduced with Onslaught. You can use them to buy new pieces of gear from the dedicated Vendors on the Fleet.

You earn Tech Fragments from almost any activity and mission you do at level 75. You can also get them through the Activities Window when you queue up for something. They even drop when you Deconstruct items and there are so many items you will be looting but wont need.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (13)

The most popular and rewarding are the Weekly Flashpoints and Operations Missions, Conquest Weekly Goals and PvP Missions. Next come the Daily missions. Never forget to pick up all missions from the Fleet mission terminals.

There is a hard limit at how many Tech Fragments you can own at any given time. They are also Legacy-bound, meaning you can earn and spend them on any character of your Legacy.

To see how many Tech Fragments you currently have, open your Inventory and navigate to the Currency Tab from the top right.

Tech Fragments Vendors

There are unique Tech Fragments Vendors on both the Republic and Empire Fleets. They are located on the outer ring in the Supplies Section.

Note that the images showing the vendors’ locations are taken on the Republic Fleet. Their positioning is in the same section for the Empire Players, but the Empire Fleet’s sections are rotated.

Tactical Items and Set Bonuses Vendors

Here you can purchase Set Bonuses (empty shells only), Tactical Items and Armor Sets with Set Bonuses. Find the one that is specific to your class and browse its contents.

Mount Vendor

The Mounts vendor offers you a limited selection of unique mounts that cost both Tech Fragments and Credits to purchase.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (16)

Pet Vendor

The Pet Vendor is right next to the Mounts Vendor. His collection of mini-pets is very small, but consists of rare individuals.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (17)

Mini-pets are small beasts and creatures that, when spawned, fill follow you around. They do not boost your in-combat performance. They just look cute and jump around you. They also make sounds when you click on them.

Spoils of War Vendor

This guy sells random gear pieces of any sort. The items you get are specific to your currently active Class Discipline. The Item Rating of the gear piece depends on your current Item Rating. The items can be of the same tier or up to +2 higher.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (18)
SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (19)

This vendor is good for when you are stuck with a piece of armor that you cannot get to drop and is holding you back. Simply purchase an unidentified box and equip the item you get. It may not have the stats you need, but will progress your IR, which is the most important thing during the Vertical Progression.

If you are nearing the cap of the allowed Tech Fragments, stop by this vendor and purchase items to both free up space for more Tech Fragments from your next expeditions and to upgrade your current gear.

Kai Zykken

Kai Zykken, also know as the Merchant of Mystery is a special vendor. He offers a different and unique set of items for sale.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (20)
SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (21)

Because his contents are randomized, the prices for the items there are quite attractive. Your best practice is you stalk him each week and not miss a good deal of a set bonus or a tactical you need.

Up until SWTOR Patch 6.3.2a Kai Zykken was only available from Friday until Monday. After this patch he is constantly available on the Fleet offering his goods 24/7.

When do you need the EndGame gear

I may repeat this statement a couple of times in the course of this guide. It’s important to know what you are planning to do with your character.

If you care for Solo Missions, Stody and Veteran Flashpoints, Story Operations or Unranked PvP, you do not need to gear up your character all the way to the most optimized IR306 gear sets with full set of Augments and Amplifiers.

If you are planning to tackle Ranked PvP, if you want to do Master Mode Operations or just want to see your character equipped with the top gear, then you should farm it all.

Difficulty Tiers and how to use them to get gear

I mentioned earlier that the higher the difficulty of the content, the better the rewards will be.

You should be careful and not overstep your boundaries. You can only do content you are geared enough for. Not like a skilled team cannot carry you through a boss or a whole run, but this is not the polite thing to ask them to do (unless it’s a paid run for loot and special prizes).

There are various mission on the Fleet and other locations that reward you with different prizes based on the difficulty of the content they ask you to complete.

If you do Story Mode Operations and Flashpoints, the challenge will be minimal, but so will be the chances of you getting good items that will further progress your EndGame gear grind.

Higher difficulty content not only has a better chance for a good gear piece to drop more often, but the number of loot that drops is higher. You simply get more items at the end of a Master Mode Flashpoint compared to the same run if you did it in Veteran Mode.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (22)

To set your standard difficulty mode, right-click on your Character’s Portrait and navigate to Mission Difficulty Preference. Note that some times you have to still manually choose the difficulty of your next activity.

Where to Begin your EndGame Gearing

This section will help you get started from the best possible place so you don’t feel lost after you are done with your leveling.

Do Onslaught to get IR268

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (23)

It doesn’t matter if you start Onslaught at level 70 or later. By the time you finish it you will be level 75. You will also receive a full set of gear IR268 as rewards from the missions you complete on Onderon and Mek-Sha.

This is your starting point for the Vertical Progression. From here you farm whatever content you want in order to get as quickly as possible through the Item Rating Tiers all the way up to IR306.

Going through Onslaught is not mandatory. Any Veteran Mode Flashpoint or Uprising and any Story Mode Operation will scale your abilities and boost your stats, so you do not need gear for these. You can skip Onslaught and get to the gear farm directly if you prefer. Starting right from IR268 is just easier and quicker.

It’s not a good idea to stop your Vertical Progression and focus on Horizontal Progression before you reach the IR306. But if you want to, you could, of course.

If you decide you are not going for the high difficulties and tougher content, you do not need to be wearing the highest tier of gear either.

Note that any story and bolstered content does not require higher tier of gear. You get bolstered to compensate for your lower stats.

IR268 can be used by characters from level 71 to level 74. IR270 and higher can only be used by characters level 75.

Farm Flashpoints

Flashpoints are your best resource for gear as you grind through the tiers. Flashpoints are the middle ground between the most casual content (Solo missions and Heroics) and the Operations and PvP.

Flashpoints are the most rewarding content based on items earned per hour played. There are two specific Flashpoints that most players prefer to farm – The Hammer Station and the Red Reaper.

Even when you are up to IR306, you can continue doing Flashpoints as they are the best source for the Horizontal progression as well.

Hammer Station

Hammer Station is the second Flashpoint as you start the game. It is quite easy and can be completed in less than twenty minutes by an experienced group of players, who know the mechanics. The mechanics are nothing extraordinary as well.

You can start doing it in Master Mode when you are around IR270 or IR272. A balanced group of the classic setup of two DPS, one Healer and one Tank is ideal for this to speed it up.

The Red Reaper

The Red Reaper can be completed in even less than ten minutes, but that would require good knowledge of the encounters and a lot of stealth movement from the whole team.

The Flashpoint is relatively easy and if you prefer to run it, you would rely on the boss drops rather than on the trash pulls, because while using stealth to speed through the areas, you will not be defeating the trash mobs.

If you need a quick orientation course, read the full Guide to the Red Reaper Flashpoint in SWTOR.

Jump into Operations

If you find yourself a decent group of friends or join an established guild Ops team, Operations should become your primary source of gearing.

When you know the mechanics, Operations could yield you more and better loot than the Flashpoints. If not, however, it could be a drag.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (24)

Story Mode Operations are very forgiving to both DPS and Healer classes, but tanks would still need to learn the tactics ahead of time to make their life inside the Operations a little smoother.

PvP is fun, but slower

BioWare seems to continue to ignore the fact that the EndGame Gearing up through PvP is the slowest method of the three (FPs and Ops).

Warzones are entertaining and a great way to get to know the class and role you play even better. There’s nothing like an unscripted fight against other players.

BioWare changes in Update 6.1.2 the missions from PvP to demand won matches instead of rewarding participation only. They also upped the rewards you earn for a completed daily or weekly PvP mission to compensate for that.

As of Update 6.1.4 you are no longer allowed to participate in Ranked PvP if you are not at the minimum threshold with your gear and Valor rank.

How to Speed Up the Gearing Process

There are several tricksyou can use to speed up the gearing and they do not involve cheating or exploiting. No, I’m talking about a completely legit methods that BioWare implemented to help you out.

Buy Items with Tech Fragments

You can only hold up a limited amount of Tech Fragments at any given point. You keep getting them, though.

At some point you might think it’s better to save up. No, it’s almost never a good decision.

Use your Tech Fragments to buy random gear from the Spoils of War vendor on the Fleet and replace/upgrade the lowest IR gear you are wearing to boost your character’s Item Rating stat.

Tip: If all of your items are the same IR, purchase two Relics and a Random Equipment. The two relics will always be one tier higher and there is a very high chance that the Random Equipment will also be one of the items you have not yet upgraded.

Slot any item if it has higher IR

While grinding Vertically through the tiers, you should always slot the highest IR item you have.

Some times the stats will be the wrong ones, but BioWare made it so that you are forced to slot the wrong item in order to make the system allow you to progress further up.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (25)

The items in your inventory will have green arrows pointing up. Usually this means that the item in your Inventory has better stats and higher IR than the one you are currently using.

Don’t forget to slot mods, enhancements, hilts/barrels and armorings as well. They cost nothing to place on an armor piece, but will still boost your Item Rating. Even if the mod has the wrong stats, in the vertical progression you care about IR, not stats balance.

Be aware that the arrows are some times wrong. Check the IR and stats manually each time to make sure the system is not misleading you.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (26)

Enable the settings underlined in the above screenshot. You will find them in the ESC menu (in Preferences – User Interface) to get more detailed information about the gear you are wearing and looting.

Swap Armor Sets between Alts

Once you get a piece of armor or an Implant or anything that is as high as you want it to be (ideally IR306, of course), transfer it across your alts via the Legacy Bank.

If you do Operations, playing alts will allow you to farm gear faster, because this way you can avoid the lockouts.

Whatever you do, it’s always nice to have a change. Repeating the same content over and over on the same character can become boring fast and that’s not something you’d want to happen to you.

Keep yourself from burning out while you grind! You can do a couple of Flashpoints on a DPS character, then move on to a Healer and do another few runs, then switch to a tank. All the time keep transferring your gear through your Legacy Bank or via mail.

Choose what Loot you receive

Right-clicking on your character’s portrait will show you a menu with an option to choose what items for what spec you’d prefer the game to drop as loot for you and reward you for completing missions.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (27)

If you decide to play alts in Operations, but have the ultimate goal to gear up your main character first, the best approach is to have the alt be the same class and role.

This will allow you to gather gear pieces for your specific class and role much quicker. You can also play for the other faction. It wont matter if you play a Marauder or a Sentinel. The gear for each two mirror classes is identical.

Craft your own gear

Crafting your own EndGame gear in SWTOR is something you may not be ready to do if you are on your first character. It is quite an expensive process and it requires significant investments.

Crafting Schematics can be obtained as loot, purchased on the GTN or from the crafting vendors. The resource of the schematic you need may vary based on the specific schematic, but these are the three general sources.

To obtain higher tier gear schematics for crafting, you can Deconstruct crafted gear. The chance to get the next tier schematic gets smaller as you climb up through the tiers. The higher tier the crafting schematic is, the more expensive it is to craft the gear and the smaller the chance to learn the next tier schematic is.

The highest tier gear is very expensive to craft. There are two special ingredients that are rare and hard to obtain:

  • SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (28) Solid Resource Matrix items – These exotic Crafting Materials are rewarded for completing your Weekly Conquest Goal.
  • SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (29) Legendary Ember – Obtained from Deconstructing items (rare chance) or from sending your companions to do Missions. Crit results have better results and the one-time missions that you can loot or buy off GTN have greater success with these items drop rate.

An easier alternative is to collect the required crafting ingredients and find a dedicated crafter. People often advertise their crafting services on massively populated locations and social hubs such as the Fleet.

Detailed look at Horizontal Progression

This segment will expand on what I have mentioned several times in the guide already – the Horizontal Progression – what it includes, how to find the best items for your build, what is available where and why you should not grind blindly without knowing what to aim for.

The next few paragraphs detail each step in the process and in what order you should get your items sorted.

Getting the right Armor Set

This section details what Armor Sets are, why are they important and how to obtain the best one for your class and role.

What is a Set Bonus

With the release of Update 6.0 BioWare redesigned the idea of Bonus Sets. With the introduction of the Horizontal Progression element into the EndGame Gearing progress the devs also released tons and tons of different Armor Sets with unique Set Bonuses.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (30)

Set Bonuses are additional perks that give you better combat performance as long as you wear more items of the same Armor Set. The set bonuses usually appear when you stack up two, four or six armor pieces from the same set (right side of your character sheet).

Some Set Bonuses are available for all classes, others are class specific. There is always one or two Set Bonuses that are the best and ideal match for each class and spec.

How to get the Armor set you need

Armor Sets can drop as a random or dedicated loot from Operations. They drop as a random loot from any other content. The higher the difficulty, the better your chance to get what you need is.

Each Armor Set has a “preferred place” where it may drop. Some are exclusive to a specific content such as Master Mode Operations only.

You can find the complete lists of All Armor Sets in SWTOR 6.0+ available in my dedicated guide over here. I keep it updated when changes are introduced or when new set bonuses appear.

Getting the right mods and Enhancements

There are many and different combinations that you can make of the mods, enhancements and all other items in your gear. This segment details specifically the Mod and Enhancements in your Armor Pieces.

The Armorings and Hilts/Barrels do not have variations per role, so you do not have a choice there.

With Mods and Enhancements, however, there are so many that you may easily get confused which are the best for you and why.

How to display armor pieces slots

If you right-click an armor piece you will see the mods placed inside. You can craft, purchase or loot individual mods/enhancements/hilts/armorings and so on.

To see the separate mods that added together result in the armor piece’s whole stats pool, go into the main menu by pressing ESC, navigate to Preferences – User Interface and place a check on “Show Detailed Item Toolyips”.

What mods and enhancements you need

Getting the right mods for your build involves a lot of patience, resources and more and more farming.

The easiest way to get exactly the mods you want is to purchase them from GTN or to order them crafted (or craft them yourself). Each class benefits from different types of mods with different sets of stats on them.

Best Mods for level 75

Currently the best mods in the game are IR306 with a number 80 in the title of the mod. Each class has different requirements and best in slot mods for the ideal stats balance.

The best mods are 80 unlettered and/or one of the R-versions. I once again refer you to your specific Class Guide to find the optimal stats pool you are aiming for and how to achieve it.

Best Enhancements for level 75

The Enhancements you are most likely going to use and need have the following names (and all end with the number 80):

  • Nimble for Alacrity Stat
  • Adept for Critacal Stat
  • Initiative for Accuracy Stat
  • Immunity for Shield Stat (tanks only)
  • Sturdiness for Absorb Stat (tanks only)

There is a great Google SpreadSheet available which lists all kinds of mods available and their variations.

Getting the Tacticals you need

This section details the Tactical Items – what are they and how to determine which one is the best for your class.

What are Tactical Items

Tactical Items are a new unique item that fits into a new unique slot in your Character Sheet. The slot is located on the left side of your character, just above the Relics slots.

For a full description of what Tacticals are, how they function and where can you purchase them, check my in-depth Guide to all Tacticals in SWTOR 6.0+.

How to get the Tacticals You need

The new tactical items are obtained as you play your game and complete missions, fight in PvP, Flashpoints, Operations or do Daily Missions. Some might be part of a mission reward, others will be a random drop from a special creature (usually a boss or a mini-boss). You can also purchase the Tacticals from vendors or craft them.

To determine what tactical items work best for your build, either take a closer look at what skills you use most often and which Tactical would benefit you the most.

I highly recommend you to check the Class Guide to find what is suggested as current best-in-slot according to the latest update/patch.

Getting the Implants and Earpieces you need

On the top left side of your Character Sheet you will find three slots – two for implants and one for an Ear Piece. These are additional items that provide you with stats.

Unlike the Armor Sets and Weapons, the Implants and Earpieces do not have mod slots. Instead they come with stats directly attached to them.

The best currently are titled “Sha-Tek”.

Getting Augments for your gear

This section details what Augments are, how to get them and in which cases is it vital for your character to wear Augmented gear.

What are Augments

Augments are items that bring you additional stats when inserted into an empty slot in your gear.

They use a special Augment slot in your gear. In some cases your character may not require Augmenting, but if you can afford it, I highly recommend you place at least some low tier Augments in your gear.

Augments are a must-have for Veteran and Master Mode Operations. They are useful in general for any higher tier and difficulty content, because you have fourteen items that you can augment and that’s a large pool of extra stats you’d be missing if you don’t.

How to get Augments

There are three general ways to obtain Augments – loot them from defeated enemies, usually boss encounters, craft them yourself or purchase them from the GTN.

The highest tier of Augments is currently 74. These are IR 286. They are incredibly expensive and hard to make by yourself as they require rare crafting materials (The Matrices).

There areseven different types of Augments based on the stats they provide: Versatile, Alacrity, Accyracy, Critical, Shield, Redoubt and Absorb.

Currently the Augment 73 (IR276) items are much more affordable and a lot less expensive than the highest tier Augment 74 (IR286).

With Patch 6.1.4 BioWare released a new tier of Augments (IR300). They are incredibly expensive and require new unique crafting materials from both Ranked PvP and Master Mode Operations.\

I highly advise you not to aim for these until their prices start dropping or BioWare changes the way they are obtained. At the moment only Cybertechs can craft the IR 300 Augments.

Getting Amplifiers

This section details what Amplifiers are, how they function and why you should not bother with them until you are on the final stretch of your gearing process!

What are Amplifiers

Amplifiers in SWTOR are an additional bonus stat, that can be rolled on higher quality gear and mods. They also vary in tiers and quality and there are different pools of Amplifier bonuses that can be rolled based on the which gear piece this amp is attached to.

This is a credit sink tool that BioWare introduced in Onslaught. The Amplifiers are only really useful to the most hard-core players and the dedicated min-maxers.

Although they provide very minor bonuses and BioWare claims that they d not take these boosts into account for balancing the encounters, you should aim to get the Best-In-Slot Amplifiers if you are planning to tackle the Master Mode Operations.

There are three tiers of Amplifiers when it comes to type of boosts they provide:

  • Primary Amplifiers – attached to Armorings, Hilts and Barrels. These amps provide bonuses that will increase your performance in combat. They can only appear on Artifact gear items (Purple color) or higher. Unmoddable gear in Onslaught will start getting Amps at Premium tier (Green color), but only one Primary Amp can be attached to those.
  • Secondary Amplifiers – atached to Mods. These provide a boost to quality of life elements of your gameplay, such as quicker mission skills, better crafting results, mount speed improvements and so on.
  • Tertiary Amplifiers – attached to Shells. These are the most common ones and will start appearing at Green tier gear items or higher. They provide generic boosts to things like crafting, XP and Renown increased earnings or rewards from PvP.

Take a look at my Guide to Amplifiers for the deep details. I also have a full list of all available Amplifiers. The Class Guides available on VULKK.com also list which Amplifiers work best for each build, so take a look there as well.

How to re-roll Amplifiers

If you are not happy with the Amplifiers you get when you loot an item, you can re-roll. This is where the credit sink idea shines the brightest.

The re-rolling on its own is not very expensive, but there are way too many Amps attached to all sorts of gear and for the maximalists and min-maxers it might be a very expensive adventure.

Of course, you can always simply obtain more of the specific item and they will always come with a randomly rolled amp(s).

Up until Patch 6.1.2 BioWare had not touched the Amplifiers system and left it as it was introduced with 6.0. In future updates, however, there will be some more tweaks, new amplifiers introduced to the pools and reorganization of what you can get from what. Also a reduction of prices is expected.

SWTOR EndGame Gearing Guide for LVL 75 (31)

To reroll your Amplifiers, open your Character Sheet and click on the button “Amplifiers” in the lower left-hand side of the panel.

The Amplifiers list will open up. Click on the Amplifier you want to reroll. To see all of the available Amplifiers for this slot, click on “Potential Amplifiers”.
