Parent reviews for Total War: Warhammer (2024)

A general rule for this game, is that if your kid is old enough to figure it out, they're old enough to handle any violence or scary aspects of the game.Pros:- Best total war game in a long time- No blood or gore, violence is pretty tame and sterile. Fighting consists mostly of units just swinging their weapons next to each other. When a knight kills a swordsmen they just kinda fall down. Much less graphic than games like Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield- Can be played without interacting with the online community- No drinking or drugs (though you can build a tavern or vineyard in some cities. Its just a drawing of a mug or wine glass though.)-Encourages critical thinking and problem solving-No Sex, almost every character is male other than some of the Vampires. That may also be a con though.Cons:-As with any game about waging war, there is violence. There's no graphic deaths or injuries, though at the end of a battle the field will be strewn with bodies.-Not an easy game, this isn't like pokemon where you can just jump in and play. Your kid will lose they're first few times probably.- Some mild language, as far as i know, nothing worse than "d***"-There is an option to play as a faction of vampires who can raise skeletons and zombies to fight for them. If you're very religious and this kind of thing offends you, this may not be the best game for your kids. May be a little scary to very young children.-Your kids WILL start talking like the goblins with their co*ckney accents. My eight year old heard them while I was playing and now won't stop going "oi! whatcha lookin at"-As I said earlier, almost everyone in the game is male. May be a little exclusionary to girls.-Some scary things like zombies and trolls. Mostly limited to the vampires. The graphics are fairly cartoony, and units are pretty small and hard to see, so anyone over ten isn't likely to be frightened at all.-This isn't a happy go lucky game, its about a world in constant turmoil in the middle of an apocolypse. I'd recommend this game to kids around age twelve and up. Its not easy, and a little dark and violent, though id rather my kid play this than Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto. Great game though overall.Disclaimer, my kids (8 and 6) are not old enough to handle the complexity of a total war game atm, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
