We have yet to see official photos of Mini's newest super-hot hatchback, but we do know quite a bit about it—it’ll have 301 horsepower, and according to Mini, it can run the Nürburgring in under eight minutes. Now, ahead of the full reveal at the Los Angeles auto show, Mini has told us what it'll cost you to get your hands on the BMW division's fastest production car ever.
The JCW GP will start at $45,750, making it also the most expensive Mini yet. A turbocharged inline-four engine will propel the JCW Mini and will feature the racing knowledge of John Cooper Works with custom-turned chassis technology and, an "aerodynamically optimized exterior appearance" that, as we've already reported and the photo above shows, will include a huge rear wing.
The specs and speed of this car put it in direct competition with another powerful front-wheel-drive car, the Honda Civic Type R. Production will be limited to 3000 units built at Mini's factory in Oxford, England.

Colin Beresford, a born and raised metro Detroiter, has been surrounded by the auto industry his entire life. For most of his formative years, he didn’t know who in their right mind would drive anything but an American-made car. He’s passionate about all the ways that people get around, even if it doesn’t involve a car or a driver. What he looks for in a vehicle is simple: it needs to be able to get him where the skiing, climbing, backpacking, or fly fishing is.

Sitting on the floor of the library and poring over issues of Car and Driver is one of Connor Hoffman's earliest memories. Choosing to attend the nation's top-ranked journalism school at the University of Missouri and graduating with a magazine writing emphasis was all part of chasing his dream of writing for Car and Driver. When he's not bragging about Mizzou having the best journalism program in the country, he's probably on a rant about Toyota trucks.
