Following last year's announcement that future Star Wars games will come under the LucasFilm Games umbrella, it was also stated that a number of Star Wars video game projects are on the way. Among them includes Ubisoft's ambitious open-world Star Wars game that's currently in development by Massive Entertainment. Though not much is known at the moment, a recent Massive Entertainment job posting suggests that the game may be landing on last-gen consoles.

Back in January 2021, Star Wars officially ended its exclusivity deal with EA, which meant that the franchise will be working on a variety of projects with different game studios. The news was shortly followed by the re-emergence of the LucasFilm Games name, along with a number of upcoming Star Wars games. One of its most notable entries was the unnamed open-world Star Wars project, which Massive Entertainment bagged thanks to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Now, a job listing points to the game being available on last-gen consoles namely, the PS4 and Xbox One.

The vacancy in question was posted for a Senior Sound Designer role for Massive Entertainment's studio in Sweden. Among the list of expected experiences includes, "understanding of PS4, Xbox One, and PC audio functionality, capabilities, and limitations." Apart from the confirmation that Ubisoft's Star Wars game is likely to be a few years away, Massive Entertainment is yet to announce any specific details such as launch windows or platform availability. However, this posting essentially means that the upcoming title may be developed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC as well as the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

More job listings from 2021 have revealed interesting details on what fans could expect from the open-world Star Wars game. For instance, the Star Wars game will be developed via Massive's Snowdrop engine. This is the same engine the studio utilized for The Division 2. Further, few other listings indicate that the open-world Star Wars game will incorporate elements of RPG and action genres while following a reality-based narrative.

While it may be some time until Massive Entertainment announces any updates about its title, there will be no shortage of Star Wars games content for fans. Just last week Warner Bros. Interactive released LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for both last-gen and current-gen consoles. Additionally, there's also Star Wars Eclipse, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 among other titles on the way. With the inclusion of Massive Entertainment's Star Wars game, it's shaping up to be an interesting time to be a Star Wars fan.

Massive Entertainment's untitled Star Wars game is currently in development.
