Entry Requirements:
• Level 1 in Health and Social Care or
• 4 GCSEs at a minimum grade D-G or
• A good NVQ Level 1 or Level 2 in an associated discipline
• An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy
• Related work experience
Programme Outline:
The Level 2 in Health and Social Care has been designed to give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life.
Enrolling on the Level 2 in Health and Social Care provides the opportunity to achieve a nationally-recognised Level 2 vocationally-specific qualification.
There are three pathways that can be chosen dependent on entry qualifications and experiences:
Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care (QCF)
This is a 15-credit programme that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate vocational sector. It is broadly equivalent to one GCSE.
Level 2 Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care (QCF)
This is a 30-credit programme which extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 2 Certificate and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. It is broadly equivalent to two GCSEs.
The Level 2 Extended Certificate offers an engaging programme for those learners who are clear about the area of employment that they wish to enter.
Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care (QCF)
This is a 60-credit programme which extends the specialist work-related focus of the Level 2 Extended Certificate. This qualification gives learners opportunities to prepare for employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a particular area of work. It is broadly equivalent to four GCSEs.
Duration:
Start dates for these programmes are flexible, with completion usually achieved within two years.
Progression:
On successful completion of the Level 2 in Health and Social Care there would be opportunities to progress to a Level 3 vocationally related qualification at one of our partner colleges. There is also the opportunity to enter employment within the Health and Social Care sector.
