Product in Question:Biopelle Tensage Intensive Serum 40

I recently had the opportunity to try a product called Biopelle. It’s a skin serum you use nightly for one week, and then once a week for three more weeks. The product is used to restore skin, fight against damage from the sun and the environment and improve skin overall. There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding this product and whether or not it works, but even more so because of what it’s made with. Drum roll, please: It’s made with snail secretions. I know! My initial reaction was probably very similar to yours. That’s why I felt compelled to see what it was all about. Based on what I knew prior to using the product, there are major pluses: It’s not harsh on the skin, and the treatment time is incredibly quick compared to most skin serums, which take two weeks to a month to show any change or improvements.

First Impression

My first concern was whether or not it was going to smell funny. I hate putting something on my face at night and then smelling it while I’m trying to fall asleep. I’m one of those people who applies nice-smelling lotions just to feel more relaxed in bed, so having a stinky face would not work for me. I was pleasantly surprised by the scent. It had a very faint, soft fragrance—not at all what you would expect. And it didn’t bother me when I was dozing off to sleep!

My second concern was the texture: Would it feel like slime? Thankfully, it didn’t feel like slime at all. I do think that the reason this serum works so well is because of its ability to stay on the skin versus being absorbed. It felt super-hydrating, I wish I had it for my whole body with how dry it is here in Arizona. But I must say there was almost a sticky feeling to it afterward.

Application

The application was made easy by the packaging: You use one capsule a night. You use them by squeezing the capsule ’til you feel a crack. Then you swab the content on your face with the soft cotton end. Once it’s been fully applied, you toss out the used capsule—and that’s it! I love the way this works. I have the perfect amount every time, and it’s applied with the cotton applicator, not my fingers. It felt clean and precise.

Results

I felt results after the first night. Normally I can tell that my skin is “happy” by how it looks when I wake up. Since this serum felt extremely hydrating, I could see fewer fine lines and a more even skin tone almost right away. After 7 days I would say that my skin overall felt more hydrated. I also noticed that it helped with some dark spots I had on my upper lip (from pregnancy, still there 3 years later.)

You’ll see the difference in my before (left) and after (right) pictures. There’s noticeably more hydration and the upper-lip pigment (melasma) has faded. I think it definitely gave me the glow I seek. I always feel dry and like that causes my wrinkle situation to progress faster than most people, but this serum combats that completely.
