1)El autor y su obra
Biografía: Allende, Isabel (1942-), novelista y periodista chilena nacida en Lima, Perú, donde su padre se encontraba destinado como diplomático. Asistió a diversos colegios privados y viajó por varios países antes de regresar a Santiago de Chile para concluir sus estudios y trabajar en la Organización para la Agricultura y la Alimentación (FAO), organismo de las Naciones Unidas. Posteriormente trabajó como periodista, escribió artículos sobre temas sumamente polémicos y también hizo cine y televisión.
Allende se exilió en 1973 y buscó refugio en Caracas, Venezuela, cuando su tío Salvador Allende, presidente de Chile, murió durante el golpe militar encabezado por el General Augusto Pinochet Ugarte.
En el exilio escribió su primera novela La casa de los espíritus (1982), una crónica familiar ambientada en el torbellino de cambios políticos y económicos acontecidos en Latinoamérica. Esta novela fue llevada al cine por el director danés Bille August. Allende continuó su exploración sobre cuestiones personales y políticas en sus dos siguientes novelas De amor y de sombra (1984) y Eva Luna (1987), y en la colección Cuentos de Eva Luna (1992). Ha sido una de las primeras novelistas latinoamericanas que ha alcanzado fama y reconocimiento a escala mundial. Su exilio concluyó en 1988 cuando los chilenos derrotaron en las urnas al dictador Pinochet y eligieron un presidente democrático. En 1995 publicó Paula, un libro de recuerdos dedicado a su hija.

Resumen del argumento:
Belisa Crepusculario es una mujer pobre, que parte en busca de mejor vida. En un viage aprende a escribir y a leer, y eso le da la idea de vender historias y palabras. Una mañana de Agosto fue secuestrada por los hombres del Coronel, que le llevaron ante él. Él necesitaba ayuda porqué quería llegar a presidente. Belisa, como de costumbre, le dijo unas palabras secretas. Su campaña era buena, pero oco antes de las elecciones el coronel emezó a enloquecer. Mulato, su amigo, fue en busca de Belisa, pués él creía que había embrujado a su jefe mediante esas dos palabras. Cuando ella llegó delante del Coronel resultó que él se había enamorado de ella, no que estuviera loco.
