Detailed Guide on Unlocking Ships (1)

This article contains important spoilers that can ruin your experience while playing
FTL: Multiverse! Read at your own risk.

This page will provide a quick and easy way to check how to unlock all the ships in the Multiverse mod. This page will contain spoilers on each event described, which options to pick in dialog options, If a ship requires crew killing, etc.

For a less spoiler-full version of this page, please check this page which contains the events and their details.

In this guide, winning the game to unlock a ship refers to achieving any of Multiverse's Endings.

It is worth noting that any hull number mentioned (for triggering surrenders) in this guide will not be perfectly accurate as it depends on the sector the player finds the ship in. Each sector past S1 will increase both minimum and maximum surrender conditions by 1 per sector, for example:

  • If this guide says X ship surrenders when at 5 or 6 hull and you find it in S4, then the ship will surrender on 8-9 hull instead (5+3 and 6+3 respectively).
  • To know when a certain unique sector can spawn, check Sector Map Generation.

List of Fleet Immune beacons[]

Some beacons in sectors are fleet immune, as in they cannot be overtaken by the fleet and thus will always be available as long as the player does not leave the sector. As most ship unlock beacons are fleet immune, a list was compiled for ease of route planning.

Since version 5.2.3, these beacons are usually marked with an exclamation sign on the map, for example: BISHOP [!].

  • SWARM (Beacon Eater, Lanius Cruiser)
  • THIEVES (Kestrel Cruiser part 1)
  • KASPAROV (Kestrel Cruiser part 2)
  • BARREL (Gatling quest)
  • BASE (Gatling quest)
  • PRE-IGNITER (Gatling quest)
  • HANGAR (Militia Cruiser)
  • PIRATE (KazaaakplethKilik, Mantis Cruiser)
  • COALITION (Coalition Cruiser)
  • FINAL TASK (C.U.R.A., appears twice, immune in both instances)
  • BISHOP (Free Mantis Cruiser)
  • ZOLTAN (Miniboss, unrelated to any unlocks)
  • MANSION
  • CACHE (revolutionary unlock)
  • ADMIRAL (Ariadne, Lost Sun Cruiser)
  • HATCHERY (Mantis Bishop (If you have Kaz), Suzerain Cruiser)
  • HIVE (Bishop Cruiser)
  • MERCHANT [True End only]
  • Nexus Portal (purple 'Quest')
  • PRIME
  • GARDENS (Orchid Cruiser)
  • SHIPYARD (Prototype Cruiser)
  • CASINO (Tuco's Cruiser)
  • ROGUE AI (A55h0l3, Auto Cruiser)

  • PALACE (Knights/Slocknog, Knighted Cruiser, Slug Ending)
  • ANOINTED [EXIT] (True Ending)

Multiverse Cruisers (Page 1)[]

Most of the Multiverse Cruisers follow a linear progressive 'chain' in terms of unlocking them, requiring the player to reach Sector 5 with the previous MV Cruiser, this chain is shown with arrows between the icons each ship and they follow the same order as the hangar did in vanilla.

The order goes:

  • Kestrel -> Federation -> Stealth -> Harmony -> Civilian -> Crystal -> Spectral -> Augmented

Find the Space Station Murder Mystery event (Long-Ranged Scanners will reveal a ship at this beacon), and you will find a civilian refueling station surrounded by several Militia vessels. Go aboard and you'll be greeted by Detective Sherlock Haynes, fellow Multiverse Renegade and legendary detective. Haynes will tell you about a murder on the station and ask for your help to find the culprit. To solve the case, investigate the scene and find several blue options that serve as clues. If you haven't selected all the necessary blue options before accusing a suspect, the quest will fail.

To complete this stage of the quest, select these options in the following order:

  1. Inspect the corpse
  2. Inspect the station -> Investigate the dronebay -> Inspect the Anti-Personnel drone -> Inspect the drone's laser.
  3. Speak to Sherlock or one of the suspects -> Talk to Daniel -> Ask Daniel about evidence -> Ask Daniel about the drone system.
  4. Speak to Sherlock or one of the suspects -> Talk to Thom -> Ask Thom about evidence -> Ask Thom about the drone system -> Call out Thom in his lie.
  5. Accuse a suspect -> None of them shot Henry, it was the drone -> It was Thom

Once Thom has been apprehended, he'll confess his crime, but also mention an imminent Rebel attack on the nearby Militia Shipyards. Haynes will join your crew and a new marker labelled 'HANGAR' will appear on your map. Once you arrive, ask to assist the Militiamen and fight the hijacked SDM Dreadnaught. You must defeat the Dreadnaught within 1 minute 40 seconds or the quest will fail (this timer is displayed on the top left). Once the Dreadnaught is vanquished, you will unlock the SDM Cruiser.

Alternatively, win the game with any Civilian Cruiser.

Find the Antique Shipyards event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon), and inquire about the offer. After hearing out Dewey, agree to recover the Kasparov in return for a Kestrel Cruiser. Dewey will give you a unique drone called Gana to help you track the thieves' location, but it is otherwise non-essential for the quest.

A marker labelled 'THIEVES' will appear on your map. Track them down and you'll discover a Brood ship. Once you choose to fight the vessel, you must force its crew to surrender for them to reveal the Kasparov's location, otherwise the quest will fail.

Beat the Brood ship up enough and the thieves will hail you. Demand they tell you the location of the Kasparov and you will learn the thieves were contracted to steal it for another collector, a man named Hideo Tanaka. Ask where the ship is now and they'll give you the Hephaestus Shipyards co-ordinates and jump away. A new marker labelled 'KASPAROV' will appear on your map.

Follow the marker and you'll see the Kasparov in the distance, with an enormous Hephaestus Transport ship preparing to break the antique down into more manageable pieces to bring to Tanaka for his private collection. Demand they give back the Kasparov and the workers will tell you they won't give it up without a fight. Oblige and take them out however you see fit. Secure the Kasparov and contact Dewey, who will thank you for recovering the antique safely, and you'll unlock the Kestrel Cruiser.

Alternatively, win the game with any SDM Cruiser.

Find the Node 17 Memorial Attack event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon), and you'll see an enormous structure. Inspect closer and you'll realize its the Node-17 memorial, commemorating the brave Federation soldiers and civilians from Universe 0 who gave their lives to stop the Rebellion. In the middle of paying your respects, an air raid siren will sound and a Rebel squadron will begin to attack the memorial. Decide to defend the structure and you'll fight an MFK Gunboat Ace.

Once your vanquish the MFK vessel, you'll be greeted by Vice Admiral Adara, who will give you a medal for your efforts, a package to deliver to Admiral Tully in Sector 8, and blueprints for the Federation Cruiser.

Alternatively, win the game with any Kestrel Cruiser.

Locate the Engi/Federation Fleet Discussion event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon) and hail them with your Engi crew member. The Engi fleet will inform you of a secret prototype vessel stolen by Mantis Suzerains who appear to be working with Rebels. Two markers will then appear on your map, both labelled 'Quest'. One will be a decoy Rebel ship, the other a Mantis Suzerain that has the co-ordinates leading to the stolen prototype.

When you find the Mantis ship, either crew kill them or accept their surrender after they take sufficient damage (when at 5 hull). A new quest marker will appear on your map, also labelled 'Quest'. If you find the Rebel vessel first, crew kill or damage them enough for them to inform you that they are a decoy. If you let them go they will inform the Rebel fleet of your location, so its best to either kill them or jump away once you find them to avoid the fleet advance, as this beacon will not impact the result of the quest at all.

Arrive at the co-ordinates provided by the Mantis and you will be attacked by a random MFK Rebel ship. Deal with it however you want and the Stealth Cruiser will be unlocked.

Alternatively, Win by any means with any Federation Cruiser.

Find the Massacred Station event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show a ship here as well as a distress signal), and you will discover a damaged Rebel Engineer station with a nearby escape pod. Upon opening it, a horrifically injured man will plead for help and mention a maniac aboard the station before dying of his injuries. Choose to investigate the station and you will discover a man dressed in a bright equinoid costume who is drenched in blood. Ask who they are and she will introduce herself as Ellie, the star of the apparently hit show Ellie the Equinoid. She will describe how she slaughtered everyone on board because they were 'bad people' and then ask for your help. Agree and she will request you kill the remaining crew aboard the station, without destroying it.

After taking out the remainder of the stations crew, you will find Ellie again. After she murders one final survivor, you discover Vance Wentworth of all people fired Ellie and took her show off the air, and she's now on a quest for revenge. Agree to work with her and she will join your crew. At this point, you must open the storage menu and select 'Talk to your crew'. After speaking with her a new option will appear on your menu labelled 'You're concerned about Ellie's mental state. Check in on her.' She'll hand you a list of people who she wants revenge on for putting her off the air and ask if you'll help her. Ask her who she wants to go after first, and she'll point to one Rigley Spruce. After explaining why she dislikes him, a new quest marker labelled 'ELLIE'S QUEST [!]' will appear on the map.

IMPORTANT NOTE: FAILING TO REACH ANY OF THE ELLIE'S QUEST BEACONS BEFORE JUMPING TO THE NEXT SECTOR WILL LOCK YOU OUT OF THE REST OF THE QUEST. ELLIE DYING OR OTHERWISE BEING REMOVED FROM YOUR CREW WILL ALSO LOCK YOU OUT OF THE REST OF THE QUEST.

Arrive at the beacon and you will be greeted by orbital warehouse and office of some kind being guarded by a Wentworth Innovations auto ship. Choose to approach and you'll enter the warehouse, finding a massive assortment of animal-themed merchandise, though notably lacking anything relating to Ellie. Upon inquiring as to Rigley's location, Ellie will snap and begin destroying the merchandise. Rigley will then appear and confront Ellie, demanding the return of the costume she's wearing and for your crew to leave immediately. You also learn 'Ellie' is actually a man named Stefan. Refuse and the Innovation auto ship will attack you.

After taking out Rigley's security, you'll find him cowering in his office. Ellie will advance on him with intent to kill. You can choose to either allow it or stop her. While this will decide Ellie's future, it has no influence on the ship unlock itself, so pick whichever option you'd like. Regardless, after handling Rigley, open your storage and speak with Ellie again and ask her who's next. She'll point to Hueghey Armstrong, complaining about how boring he was, as well as mentioning his ties to Vance. Another 'ELLIE'S QUEST [!]' marker will appear on your map.

Arrive and you'll find Armstrong and Lorence Law Firm. Enter and Ellie will lead you to Hueghey's office. After she rips the door off its hinges, you'll find Hueghey. Selecting any of the options will result in the same thing: Ellie will notice the complete lack of anything related to her in the office and lunge at Hueghey, who manages to dodge her and call for security. An Elite Rebel ship will appear which you must take out. The ship can be eliminated however you please.

After dispatching security, Ellie will capture Hueghey, who pleads for his life as she prepares to kill him. You can once more either let her do so or stop her. One way or the other, you must once more speak to Ellie via the storage menu. Ask her who the next target is and she'll pick out Remmy the Rekma. After briefly reminiscing on their past, yet another 'ELLIE'S QUEST [!]' marker will appear on your map.

Make your way to the marker and you'll find a militia outpost. Search for Remmy and you'll quickly locate a small Rockman at a poker table, who's shocked to see Ellie but offers her a seat. He reintroduces himself as Gos, and despite being quite friendly and welcoming Ellie accuses him of screwing her over. Gos is hurt and claims they'd been good friends since they first met. He says he quit because of what W.I. did to her and pleads for her to see reason, but Ellie screams that he's a liar and pleads for you to help her. You can choose to either back her up or talk her out of it, both of which will allow the quest to proceed, though backing Ellie up will cause the station to turn hostile. Speak with Ellie again and you'll recieve your final target: Sammy the Spider. For the last time, a new 'ELLIE'S QUEST [!]' marker will appear on your map.

Arriving at the beacon will confront you with an enormous city, which is currently in the middle of a live performance for Flowers and Sunshine, the show Ellie was fired from. In addition, a massive and strangely decorated spider-shaped cruiser is stationed nearby. Choose to enter the building where the event is being held and you'll sneak your way to some dressing rooms. After encountering a few other mascots, Ellie will burst into Sammy's room and begin to taunt him. However, you'll notice a large contingent of security guards on the approach and convince Ellie to get going before she can exact her revenge. Before getting away, you'll be stopped by an oddly dressed woman, who you quickly realize is a Rebel Legionary. She will confront Ellie and taunt her, before turning to you and jokingly telling you Vance sends his regards before deciding to let the 'stupid looking blue spider' cruiser kill you. Said cruiser will then attack.

After dispatching the abomination of a cruiser, Ellie makes you fly back down to deal with Sammy. After a dramatic speech in front of a horrified audience, Ellie will prepare to kill Sammy. How she deals with Sammy will depend on your previous actions throughout the quest, with you either only able to watch on in horror or able to stop her. Regardless of the outcome, the Equinoid Cruiser will finally be unlocked.

Find the Huge Rebel Shipyard event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon), and inspect the shipyard. Several Rebel ships of varying strength can be optionally engaged, but just ignore them and examine the enormous hanger bay instead. There you will discover a second Rebel MV Flagship, though it is currently under construction. Choose to take it down and it will power up and attack you.

The Unfinished Flagship will fight the player similarly to phase 3 of the real Flagship battle, but with a far weaker Energy Shield and slower-firing artillery systems, though it can still perform power surge attacks. Unlike the actual Flagship, you are able to crew kill this vessel, as it's advanced AI systems have not yet been installed. Reduce the unfinished monstrosity to scrap and you will unlock the Rebel Cruiser.

Alternatively, win the game with any Federation Cruiser.

Find the Reactor Meltdown event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon), and choose to swing by and salvage some supplies. You will then be engaged by a Rebel Engineer Mothership. You will have 3 minutes until the reactor melts down (the timer will be displayed in on the top right).

If you defeat the engineers or left the beacon once the timer runs out, the reactor will explode and your ship will take some hull damage (depending on engine level being sub-4, 4 and 6 the damage will be 15, 6 or none respectively) and the quest will fail.

In order to prevent the meltdown, you must bring the Engineer ship down to lower enough health. This will depend on what sector you encountered them in, typically ranging between 1-5 hull points with a chance of it surrendering at each health level. Once you've done this, a notice will appear saying there is one minute until the reactor melts down. Urge the Engineers to stop fighting and send your crew in to fix the reactor. You will be given the following options:

  • Press the big red one.
  • Press the small blue one.
  • Press the square green one.
  • (Emergency Manual) Read the manual.
  • (Engineer Crew) Have your engineer help.

Select any of them, as every option will result in the meltdown being averted. The Engineer Mothership will be stunned at how easy it was to prevent the meltdown, but also mention that they'll be leaving immediately to avoid Vance's wrath. As thanks you'll receive an uplifted drone, a human engineer, and the Engineer Cruiser will be unlocked.

Alternatively, win the game with any Rebel Cruiser.

Find the Damaged Engineer Vessel event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show a ship at this beacon) and you'll discover a Rebel Engineer vessel with obvious damage to its hull. Choose to hail them and they'll request your help. They've been working on a prototype cognitive vessel that has escaped. This is especially bad for them since they were explicitly told to not create such a vessel. The engineers ask you to track down the rogue AI and destroy it before rebel command finds out. A new marker labeled 'ROGUE AI' will appear on your map.

Upon arriving, you'll be greeted with an enormous city made out of a wrecked starliner. After landing and asking around, you'll be told to speak with the king of the city. Upon a throne you meet a Doctor Drone wearing a pirate hat with a buzzsaw for a hand. He'll introduce himself as Captain A554OL3, and offer you to shake his non-buzzsaw hand. You must choose to shake his hand, or A554OL3 will not join your crew and you won't unlock the cruiser.

You quickly realize A554OL3 is the rogue AI the engineers were after and explain why you've come here. He'll tell you he won't come quietly, at which point you'll realize you're at a standoff. A554OL3 will call a pirate-decorated Auto-Dreadnaught to assist him and give you one last chance to leave. Refuse his offer and take on the Dreadnaught.

Bring the Auto-Dreadnaught down to 1-5 hull (depending on what sector it was encountered in) and it will abruptly shut down. The Engineers from earlier will approach with the intention of collecting the rogue AI. Before you get a chance to hail them, A554OL3 will beg you not to hand him over. Lie to the engineers and tell them the Auto-Dreadnaught was the AI. The Engineers will realize the AI has migrated elsewhere but don't question you and leave. Afterwards, A554OL3 will thank you for not handing him over and join your crew, unlocking the Auto Cruiser.

Find the MFK Ace conversation event (Long-Ranged Scanners show a ship at this beacon) in either a Rebel Controlled Sector (50% chance to appear) or Rebel Stronghold (100% chance) and you'll spot an MFK vessel communicating with a rebel transport. They'll be talking on an unencrypted channel, with the Ace eventually asking the transport if its headed to the 'Protectorate'. Decide to continue listening and the Ace will ask the transport about Vance's nephew, wondering if the Protectorate is just for him. The transport captain will tell the Ace that the area is off limits and under control of one Cyra Black, Vance's second in command of the entire Rebellion. You can choose to either ask for the co-ordinates or follow the transport. Regardless, the MFK will attack you and you'll have 1 minute to defeat it or the quest will failed (timer appears in the top right).

Eliminate the Ace within the time limit and the transport will manage to FTL jump away before you can interrogate them. However, you'll be able to track their jump and snag the co-ordinates to the Protectorate from them. You'll now be able to re-route to the Jerome Protectorate whenever in hyperspace unless arriving at The Last Stand after re-routing from there previously.

Once you arrive at the Protectorate, you'll be confronted by an MFK Guard which will immediately attack you with ASB support. After defeating it you can open your sector map and see a beacon labelled 'ESTATE [!]'. Arrive at the Estate and you'll be presented with a massive rebel city hosting the Wentworth Estate, home of Vance Wentworth's nephew Jerome. Choosing to enter will cause an Innovation auto-ship to attack you while the rebels attempt to evacuate Jerome from the area. You must defeat this auto-ship within 90 seconds or the quest will fail (timer is displayed in the top right).

Once you eliminate the auto-ship, you'll spot a group of MFK's evacuating with a Rebel Legionary and a random civilian. After a brief mix-up with you assuming the Legionary is Jerome, the civilian will ask to talk to you, requesting you call him Jerry. He will comment on how everyone sets their expectations of him so high due to his uncles reputation, before willingly allowing you the chance to shoot him. Choose to spare him and he will ask why, though any of the options will progress the quest. After giving some background on himself and how he doesn't feel he's done anything to earn the reputation he has, you'll ask him why he doesn't just leave. Jerry will say Cyra Black controls the Protectorate and would never let him leave. Ask him to come with you and see the Multiverse and he'll agree, though he'll also point out Cyra will undoubtedly try to stop you from leaving, asking you not to hurt her. Jerry must remain on your crew or the quest will fail.

Make your way to the exit beacon and a massive MFK cruiser will be waiting for you. Cyra will order you to return Jerry at once or suffer the consequences. Refuse to do so and Jerry will ask her to let you go. Cyra will bring up the promise she made to Vance, saying she swore to never let anything happen to his nephew before attacking you.

To complete the quest, you must do sufficient damage to the vessel or kill enough of their crew for a notice to appear. It should be noted that Cyra will attack you as an enemy crew member, but killing her will not affect the quest. Jerry will pull you aside and beg you not to kill Cyra, telling you she won't last much longer. A hidden 25 second timer will then start in which you must survive without destroying/crew killing the MFK Cruiser. If you manage to keep Jerry alive until those 25 seconds pass and not take out the ship or its crew, the fight will end with Cyra reluctantly surrendering to you.

Jerry will ask you to dock with her ship and rush to meet her. However, she will tell Jerry she failed both him and Vance before committing suicide. Jerry will be distraught and blame himself for causing everything to go wrong. Calm him down and you'll steal the MFK Ace Cruiser's blueprints, unlocking the ship for yourself.

To gain access to Wentworth Innovations HQ, you will to find a beacon marked 'C.U.R.A.' in the Multiverse Drop Point. Once you reach it, you will be greeted by an advanced auto vessel that will introduce itself as C.U.R.A., who will ask if you're interested in a job offer. Agree and it will explain it is looking for information and artifacts related to Vance Wentworth, the founder of Wentworth Innovations and current Rebel Leader. However, before allowing you to partner with it, it will demand a down-payment of 30 scrap. Pay it and you can begin the quest.

Whenever you are in hyperspeed, you will see a new blue option called "View available task from C.U.R.A". Selecting this option will present you with three different tasks of varying difficulty, which provide both rewards for completion and points toward accessing a special task that will take you to Wentworth Innovations. Easy Tasks are worth 1 point, Medium Tasks are worth 2 points, and Hard Tasks are worth 3 points. You must complete 9 points worth of tasks before reaching sector 8 to gain access to the special task, or else you will be unable to re-route to the secret sector.

Find the Pinnacle Shipyards event (Long-Ranged Scanners show no ship at this beacon). Upon arrival you will receive a hail from Zenith, caretaker of Pinnacle Robotics. Inquire as to why a Pinnacle shipyard in W.I. space and Zenith will provide some background information. You can ask if Zenith is an AI, or if you have met Dewey Alms during your current run you can inquire on its knowledge of him. These give extra lore but ultimately won't affect the quest. Ask Zenith what it wants you to do and it will request you recover its 'children' from a nearby W.I. storage facility. Accept this quest and a new marker labeled 'PINNACLE' will appear on your map.

Arrive at the beacon and you will be greeted by a gigantic storage facility, as well as a rare Legion ship. Attack the vessel and either bring their hull down to 2 or their crew down to 1. Once either of these are done, the Legion captain will curse 'that stupid A.I.' and warn you about having no idea what you're messing with. After this, he will commit suicide by blowing up his own ship, ending the fight. After briefly wondering if the A.I. the legionary was referring to was Zenith or something else, choose to explore the structure. Once you reach the coordinates Zenith provided you, it will contact you and inform you to activate the manual override to release its 'children'. Do so and Zenith will thank you by providing you the Technician Cruiser.

Approach and you will break into the Citadel housing Cayden Stimly, the Vice President of WI. Announce your presence (or don't, has no actual effect in the questline) and you'll fight an Innovation Dreadnaught. However, 1 second after the battle starts, the enemy ship suffer a critical error and be instantly destroyed. After grilling Cayden for the information you need, C.U.R.A. will contact you and provide you with co-ordinates leading to the Prototype.

A new 'FINAL TASK' marker will appear on your map. Arrive there and your engines will suddenly be reduced to 1 bar as an enormous Innovation Cruiser approaches you, which is shown to be C.U.R.A.. It will apologize for misleading you and re-introduce itself as C.I.C.A., the AI that controls every Auto ship in the Rebellion. It no longer requires your services, and your knowledge has made you a threat that must be removed. However, as a gesture of goodwill, it will allow you to choose a penalty before engaging you in battle:

  • 5 hull damage
  • Lose a shield layer (Must have a shield system or this option is unavailable)
  • 7 mini-drone boarding invasion.

These penalties can be avoided if you have a hacking system, though by doing so you will be unable to use hacking during the fight against C.I.C.A.. You can also avoid them with the Anti-Virus Module, which will let you continue with no downsides. Alternatively, having A55HOL3 on your ship will allow him to distract C.I.C.A. enough that it attacks you before making you choose a penalty. Once you arrive at the quest beacon, you'll find a damaged station being guarded by a militia vessel, which will hail and tell you the area is off limit to civilians. Tell the Militiamen there that you aren't a civilian cruiser and offer to help them clear out the Giant Alien Spiders. You must exterminate all the Spiders on the station without destroying it, or the quest will fail.

Once you kill all the Spiders, the Militiamen will give you the co-ordinates for the Infested Sector, a sector that serves as a stronghold for a particularly vicious gang of pirates known as the Brood who use the spiders for their own gain. However, the sector has also become so overrun with spiders that the Brood have lost control of them. The Militia have been deployed there to contain them but is struggling to do so. Go to the exit beacon of the sector and select the reroute option once you leave the sector. As with all all re-routes, you'll be able to go there at any time, unless arriving in Sector 8 after having re-routed from there previously.

Upon entering the sector, an EDC Guard named Montgomery will tell you the sector has gone to hell between the Brood and hordes of Giant Alien Spiders. After mentioning the missing mercenary they hired to help with the Brood, Montgomery will mention an imminent Militia attack on the Brood's home base, and would appreciate any help they can get. A marker labelled 'NEST [!]' will appear on your map.

Upon arriving at the Spider Hive, you'll manage to avoid the fleets of Militia and Brood cruisers fighting over the planets surface and land near an enormous cavern. Montgomery will hail you and a choppy transmission will reveal the ship that was supposed to detonate specialized bombs within the cavern was taken out before it was able to set them up. Choose to enter the cavern yourself and you'll find the wrecked ship with the bombs still inside. Decide to detonate the bombs yourself and you'll eventually reach the center of the cavern, an enormous circular room with tens of thousands of spider eggs embedded in the walls. However, while trying to set up the bombs, the Queen of the Spiders will confront you, though doesn't immediately attack. Decide to put down your laser and the Queen will back off, crawling through a hole in the nearby wall.

Follow the Queen and you'll discover a long abandoned research center with the bodies of various insectoid monstrosities suspended in test tubes. While inspecting the ruins you'll find a letter addressed to one Oscar Wright, a prominent senator in the Federation. The letter reads as follows:

"Dear Senator,

There has been a change of plans. Your methods for testing the insectoid DNA have deeply disturbed both me and the council. My team found a new candidate anyways. There will no longer be a need to continue your experiments. I would like to remind you that the only reason you are where you are today is because of your history with the Admiral, and in his absence the new leadership is not as generous. I am writing this only out of the best of intentions for your well being. If you don't want to wake up with a bullet in your head, I advise destroying all evidence at all costs.

You know what you have to do, Oscar. Do not fail the Rebellion again.

Sincerely, Dr. E.W."

After reading the letter, Montgomery will appear behind you, ordering you to drop the letter and leave to detonate the bombs. Confront him about the letter and Montgomery will reveal the Brood was a proxy funded by the Rebellion to sow chaos for the Federation, before calling you a liability that must be disposed of. An EDC Cruiser will appear to attack you, which you can eliminate however you desire. Upon dispatching of the cruiser, you'll find Montgomery mortally wounded. However, before you can deal with him, he'll trigger the countdown for the bombs to detonate. Rush back to rescue the Queen and the Brood Cruiser will be unlocked.

Virgo will prepare to kill Irwin, at which point you can choose to intervene, causing the Brood Cruiser to attack. Take it out however you desire.

Once the Brood Cruiser has been vanquished, Irwin compliment you for sticking up for a fellow Renegade before asking how much he owes you. Ask him for information on Virgo and what he wanted from Irwin. He'll mention how the Giant Alien Spiders share the same genetic base as the Vek (From Into the Breach) and several other monstrosities. Vael hired Irwin to get the DNA, but the Militia's plans to detonate the Nest made Irwin chicken out. When you arrive you'll just barely make out two ships, one of which you identify as belonging to the Rebellion. Before you can do anything, the second ship will hail you, asking you to follow them. Anurak will ask you to bring him to Devorak so that he can request his name be cleared. Defend the caravan from the attack and offer to protect Anurak until he finds Devorak, at which point Anurak will join your crew. A marker labelled 'HIDEOUT [!]' will appear on your map.

Arrive at the marked beacon and you'll see a seemingly abandoned Ministry research outpost. However, bioscans will show one lifeform inside, who isn't a Zoltan. Choose to enter the hideout and you'll find the 'bodies' of duskbringers littering the floors. Continue deeper into the hideout and you'll be met by a man who will introduce himself as Saggitarius, though he prefers the name Jack. He's one of the Syndicate's Angels, arguably the deadliest mercanaries in the Multiverse. After a brief tangent about the bad blood between Renegades and Mercanaries, Jack will provide a bit of background on Devorak and his influence on both the Ministry and the Duskbringers. He'll eventually tell you he was hired by the Duskbringers to kill Devorak, who are worried Devorak will renounce the movement, something that would cripple its support with the Zoltans. Fortunatly for the Duskbringers, the Rebels decided to launch an enormous attack on their Stronghold, which provides them with a perfect solution: blame Devorak's death on the Rebellion. The Duskbringer Elite you dispatched earlier was supposed to take out Anurak, which would hopefully lure Devorak out of hiding and allow Jack to eliminate him. Now that the plan has been ruined, Jack will say you owe him and ask for your help, but he needs Anurak to serve as bait. His plan is to use Anurak to lure Devorak out of hiding, then arrive disguised as a Rebellion vessel and assassinate Devorak. If you don't still have Anurak on your crew by this point, the quest will be failed. If you do, Jack will provide you with the co-ordinates leading to Devorak, but not before warning you about trying to pull a fast one on him. A new marker labelled 'DEVORAK [!]' will appear on your map.

When you arrive at the beacon, you'll find an enormous city, though the co-ordinates Jack gave you will lead to a small docking port. Go with Anurak to the port and you'll find a door being guarded by a Rockman. After Anurak rambles at her for a while, ask her if she could pass on a message for Devorak. While in the middle of telling you to leave, the door she's guarding will open and Devorak will stride out, giving Anurak a hug and asking him where he's been. After interrupting their reunion and learning Devorak is the name of the sword the husk of hardlight wields and not the wielder himself, Anurak will tell Devorak he doesn't want any involvement in his suicide mission. While the two are arguing, Jack will arrive. However, he'll arrive in a Federation vessel instead of a Rebellion one, which would almost certainly result in an all-out war between not just the Federation and the Duskbringers, but also the Zoltan Ministry. In order to stop this from happening, choose to attack Jack.

Once Jack has been defeated, you'll realize the entire battle was being broadcasted to the city, and likely all of Zoltan controlled space. Anurak will rush forward and try to explain that the Syndicate was behind the attack before Devorak comes forward and reveals the entire attack was a ploy by the Duskbringers to sieze power from the Ministry. He will then go into a dramatic speech about his history with the Duskbringers, his motivations to join them, and then his disenchantment with the entire organization. He will declare the Duskbringers as an organization that opposes peace, and that he is renouncing both them and their actions. After urging all other Zoltans to consider what he has said, he will turn to you and thank you for helping him, before joining your crew and giving you the blueprints for the Peacekeeping Cruiser.

Locate the Ministry Capital Attack event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon), and you will be asked to leave by the Zoltan Prime Minister. Respond and ask to help with one of the above options. If you insist on staying without one of them, a Zoltan Peacekeeper ship will attack you and the quest will fail.

After convincing the Prime Minister to accept your help, agree to aid them against the terrorist threat. A terrorist cruiser will then appear and attack you. You must allow the terrorist cruiser to escape or the quest will fail. In order to trigger the terrorist retreat, all but 3 of their crew must be killed (they will not retreat simply by taking too much damage). Once this happens a notice will appear, select any of the blue options to track them and then allow them to escape. Once they leave, choose the blue option to grab their co-ordinates. A new marker labelled 'Terrorists' will appear on your map.

Once you arrive, select either the long or short version of the history of the Osmians and their conflict with the Zoltan Ministry. The Osmians will then request your help to free many of their trapped people inside a Ministry laboratory. Agree to assist them and a new marker labelled 'Lab' will appear on your map.

When you reach the lab, a Ministry Peace-Keeping ship will approach and order you to leave. Refuse and take it down however you see fit, and you will unlock the Osmian Cruiser.

Search for the Slug Village Massacre event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon, but there will be a distress signal, it will be inside a nebula as well), and investigate the scene. You'll find a young slug who will inform you that a Mantis pirate bearing the flag of the Hive slaughtered everyone but him. Take the slug with you and he'll give you the co-ordinates leading to the pirate. (you do not actually need the slug as crew to continue the quest, taking him and then instantly dismissing him will make the quest proceed as normal in case you do not want him)

Follow the new marker labelled 'Pirate' on your map and you will meet the legendary Mantis Warrior Kazaaakplethkilik. Question him enough about his reasoning and he will attack you. To continue the quest you must kill enough of his crewmembers until his total crew count drops to 2 (despite being a major plot character, Kaz's life does not have any special treatment and he is considered a regular crewmember during gameplay, so his crew-form survival in this encounter is irrelevant).

If his hull takes too much damage during the fight (down to 6-7 hull), Kazaaakplethkilik will begin to retreat, preparing his FTL drive for about 50 seconds before he jumps away, failing the quest.Once you manage to weaken his crew, you will be given a chance to spare Kazaaakplethkilik (even if you murdered him as a crewmember, amusingly). Find the Panicking Free Mantis event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show a ship at this beacon), and hail them. After listening to them hyperventilate about the Hive and Zoltan sending massive fleets to attack the Free Mantis, ask them to calm down. They will inform you of a Mantis Bishop that has taken one of the leaders of the Free Mantis Movement, Freddy, hostage and send co-ordinates to their location. They will also send over co-ordinates for an enormous Zoltan Monk Cruiser that is leading a holy crusade against the Free Mantis. Two new markers will appear on your map, labelled 'Bishop' and 'Zoltan' .

The Zoltan marker is irrelevant to the actual unlock condition: Upon reaching it, you will encounter a fleet of Zoltan ships led by a particularly colourful Monk vessel called The Prophet Of The Great Eye. Confront the Monk leading the Crusade and he will attack you with ASB support. Kill him however you like and a fleet of Free Mantis vessels will arrive and shower you with gifts.

The Bishop marker holds the unlock: When you reach it, a well armed Bishop ship will be discussing what to do with Freddy. Approach them and they will attack you. You will need to crew kill them in order to save Freddy, and if they are destroyed the quest will fail. Once you've cleared out the Bishop vessel, investigate the cargo bay and you will find a prison cell holding "dumb stupid Free Mantis leader man". Open the cell door to rescue the well spoken and quite dapper looking Freddy, who will join your crew as thanks for your help.

Once you've dealt with the Cruiser, confront Laiiikarkapi and question her about using you as a distraction. Upon arriving at the Theocracy Badlands, a marker labelled 'Turban' will appear on your map. Reach it, and you will find the great city of Turban, a powerhouse a galactic trade, commerce, and culture, built upon the ruins of an old Inquisition stronghold. Choose to visit and you will be given the chance to visit one of the largest stores in the game, with a wide variety of weapons, crew, systems and augments.

However, when you choose to jump away from Turban, the city will be bombarded by Coalition and Inquisition forces. Stay and assist the civilians on the ground until you are nearly killed by a missile. A Rockman in priest clothing will come to your aid and lead you into the sewers. It turns out the Rockman, Argo, was once one of the most respected members of the Theocracy, and served as a priest for them. However, his people hated him and the government for their cruelty and tyranny. When his own daughter, Ariadne, ran away to join a fledgling resistance movement against the Theocracy, Argo was exiled and travelled to the Badlands.

Finish listening to his story and hide out in the sewers until the explosions on the surface stop (in the mean time, the Rebel fleet will advance one jump). Afterwards, an announcement will be made by the Inquisition ordering those still alive to surrender immediately or be exterminated. A large and seriously well armed Coalition Cruiser will also appear, though it isn't hostile yet. You will be given one last chance to slip away unnoticed, or else take the cruiser head on. Arrive at the marker and you'll be confronted by a huge Lost Sun Cruiser. An Inquisition Officer will pontificate about the inevitable failure of the Lost Suns movement at the hands of a second Inquisition and suggest you revoke your allegiance to the Lost Suns. Inform him that the Inquisition has failed before and he'll get quite angry, saying the Coalition will be the 'spark that reignites the fires of fury in the Rockmen's hearts', a curiously Lost Sun thing to say. Tell him as such and he'll attack.

Suspiciously, the vessel will be crewed entirely by Lost Sun commandos. You will either need to bring the Lost Sun Cruiser down to 1 hull point or crew kill it. Once you've completed either, the cruiser will stop firing and Admiral Ariadne will emerge from the shadows, commending you for your demonstration of loyalty to your allies, though if you crew killed the ship she will point out your slight over-zealousness in doing so. 2. Head to the cyan "Key" marker in the map
  3. Once at the church:
    1. Enter
    2. Attempt to sneak around and look for the key. (!)

    4. Break open the case.
    5. Hurry back to the ship!
    6. Attack, we need that key!

(!) Alternatively, you can interrupt the sermon instead and still manage to get the key, but it requires Ruwen to be alive, thus unnecesarily complicating the process:

  1. This is important; interrupt the sermon.
    1. Have Ruwen speak with him. (only appears if Ruwen is still alive, if not, this ends in being boarded and losing the unlock chance)
    2. We've come for the Waystone Key.
    3. Leave, then sneak around back and look for the key.
    4. Enter the door marked 'shrine'.
    5. Break open the case.
    6. Hurry back to the ship!
    7. Attack, we need that key!

Afterwards you can either choose to "(2) Simply stop firing" once the "surrender" prompt comes up or crewkill the ship, both will grant you the Waystone key and thus the unlock. Having a level 2 medbay or level 1 clonebay will allow you to rescue Vortigon after the surrender/crew kill.

Sodium Cruisers[]

Layout "A": The unlock event for this cruiser is located in the unique sector "Guild Territory [!]"

When you first arrive at the sector, you will discover not a Guard ship but a Guild Hunting Lodge. Go aboard and search around to see if it has something to sell. While looking around you'll come across Sylvan the Travelling Merchant. Follow him and he will mention the Guild is hunting down a brilliant bounty hunter known as the Salt Man. Inquire further about the Salt Man and Sylvan will briefly recount his 'close friendship' with the bounty hunter before asking you to make sure he is okay. Agree to look for him and Sylvan will give you his last known co-ordinates, and a marker labelled 'Quest' will appear on your map.

Arrive at the co-ordinates Sylvan gave you and you will find a clearing in the nebula with an asteroid field. While there will be no signs of the Salt Man himself, there is a massive crystalized asteroid. Approach it and it will reveal itself to be the Salt Man's personal cruiser. Send some of your crew aboard to investigate it and you will find it still inhabited. The crew will panic about being discovered while their boss was away and attack you.

You will need to damage the ship enough for them to reveal the Salt Mans location. Don't destroy or crew kill them, otherwise the quest will fail. Once they've taken sufficient damage, explain you didn't find them with the intention of killing them and explain Sylvan sent you. The crew will be surprised and remark that they thought he'd left for good. Ask what made them think as such and they will allude to a romance gone south between Sylvan and their boss. Inquire as to the Salt Man's current location and they will tell you he's been captured by the Guild and is being held in one of their dissection centres. A new marker labelled 'Quest' will appear on your map.

Once you reach the quest marker, fly upwards towards the enormous facility. A titanic ASB will turn and aim at your ship, though it won't fire just yet. A group of Clansmen will hail you and demand proof that you have a licence to be there. You will be presented with the following options:

  • Of course!
  • (Mind Control) Of course!
  • (Clansmen Crew) Of course!
  • (Cloaking) Hide!
  • Nah.

You must pick "Of course!" on its own or with your Clansmen crew member, otherwise the quest will fail.

Say that you do, and the Clansmen will ask you to prove it by reciting the Guild's motto. This part will be skipped if you chose the Clansmen crewmember option.

  • Rule thy mind, rule they honour!
  • A valiant death before a cowardly life!
  • Who is better is greater than the rest!
  • I think YOU just forgot, and you're asking me so that you don't look stupid.

While any option will get you inside, the first three will require you to pay the Clansmen a 25 scrap fee for a temporary permit.

Pick the fourth option and the Clansmen will initially deny it before they collectively realize none of them know it either. They will then let you pass and you'll make your way to the prison hold section of the facility, where you will find and free the Salt Man. He will greet you and say his name is Obyn, then guess you aren't members of the Guild. Agree and tell him that Sylvan sent you. Obyn will become very excited and ask you where his dearest Sylvan is right now. Admit that Sylvan isn't actually with you and Obyn will join your crew in exchange for getting him out.

As you're leaving the facility, you will be intercepted by a large Guild Cruiser who will fire on you for stealing from them. Defeat them however you wish, but when you do an enormous fleet of Guild vessels will jump in. They will offer you an ultimatum, hand over the Salt Man or be destroyed. Refuse to surrender Obyn and the Guild ships will prepare to fire. Just before they can destroy you, Sylvan will arrive and annihilate the lead Guild ship with the Salt Man's cruiser providing supporting fire, causing the Guild fleet to flee in a panic.

Witness Obyn and Sylvan's reunion, realize the irony of a Slug being in a relationship with a being made up of salt, and you will unlock the Sodium Cruiser.

Locate the Pony World event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon, and beacon won't be in the nebula), and approach a ruined Guild Cruiser on the surface. You see several Space Equine grazing around the ship, but before you can investigate further a mysterious voice tells you not to disturb them. Once you look around and fail to see anybody, ask for the voices identity. They will call themselves the Story Teller and explain they have lived on this planet for many years. They will the offer to tell you a story:

The Story Teller's Tale
"Once, many years ago, there was a boy who would come here with his uncle. His father was gone, and his mother dead. His uncle was a proud man, but the boy was meek. These trips were unusual and not an easy liberty, but his uncle wanted so desperately to earn the boy's affection.

At first they came and simply watched the wildlife, but they never got too close. His uncle forbade it. One day, his uncle brought a gun. He showed the boy how to use it, and shot a bird from the sky. But all the boy did was cry. His uncle did not understand, and every day this would repeat itself. The pair would come, an animal would die, the boy would cry. The boy wielded the gun several times, and he fired it with deadly accuracy, but never once would he hit an animal. Instead, he would shoot cans and stones.

One day, his uncle simply gave up. He stayed in his ship and let the boy free. He hoped he would learn to grow cold once he saw the equinoids did not share the same love for him as he did for them. But the boy would eagerly spend every day feeding the equinoids in bliss. The equinoids treated them as one of their own foals. The boy and the equinoids had more in common than the boy's own uncle. Bastardized and left without a home, forced into a new purpose by a master who did not understand their true nature.

Every day the boy would beg his uncle to travel here, and every day his uncle's jealousy grew. How could the boy love a mindless alien more than his own flesh and blood? One day, the equinoids roamed further than they had before, and the boy followed. Soon, he even left the sight of his uncle, who in a panic realized he had lost track of the precious child and rushed after him. The boy wandered aimlessly but never afraid until he found a wreck. Mossy and rusted the ship lay in a state of disrepair, piloted by a lost Engi.

The Engi was wounded, having been shot down by a Clansman who had seen through the disguise of his stolen craft. The Engi, too, had befriended the equinoids, and the equinoids thought it was time the boy meet the Engi. Good friends the two became, and for hours they talked of nothing in particular. The Engi had seen many things in his travels but understood little, while the boy had been so sheltered yet understood everything he had seen. The boy taught the Engi many things, and the Engi amused the boy with many stories.

As night fell, the boy grew tired and bid the Engi goodnight. He walked away, guided once again by the equinoids. The boy never returned. We do not know what happened to him. We miss his voice..."

After finishing their story, a Knighted Slug vessel will land nearby and prepare to hunt the Equinoids, with the Story Teller failing to convince them to stop. Intervene and destroy the Knight however you desire, and the Story Teller will give you the blueprints to the Guild Cruiser as thanks for protecting the Equine.

Layout "A": The unlock event is located in the unique sector "Hektar Mega-Market™ [!]".

To reach the Hektar Mega-Market™, you must find a sector with "[Sale!]" next to it. Once you arrive, 5-6 markers labelled 'Store [Hekt]' will appear on your map. You must visit 4 of these stores and claim one U.W.U point from each in order to gain access to the Mega-Market™.

When you first visit a Hektar™ store, inquire about U.W.U points. You will have a chance to pay the employee 700 scrap (which can unlock another ship) or simply call their bluff and get it for free. This option only appears at the first store, for the rest you can simply collect your U.W.U point and leave. Once you collect enough points, go to the exit beacon and reroute towards the Hektar Mega-Market™. You can reroute towards the Mega-Market™ during any sector jump and even the first time you head to S8.

Once you arrive at the Mega-Market™, search for the Primitive Lizard Village Protest event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon, and it will be outside the nebula), and investigate the scene closer. You'll find a Lizard in a suit and tie trying to calm down a horde of Lizard protestors. Land your ship and speak with him, and he'll introduce himself as Metyunt, Manager of the Hektar Shipyard™ and representative of the Lizard people. Ask him what the deal is with the protestors and tell you they believe him a traitor for selling them into what is effectively slavery to Hektar Industries™. Side with the protesters and a Hektar Loyalty Assurance™ ship will attack you.

Take out the HLA™ however you see fit and you'll find the protesters and Hektar™ security forces at a stand-off, with Metyunt preventing the security team from opening fire on the protesters. Convince Metyunt to stand down and he will be captured by the protesters. Tell them that he deserves a second chance and they will reluctantly let him go. Shocked to realize he's still alive, Metyunt will ponder that it might not be the best idea to sell your entire species into slavery and you will unlock the Hektar Cruiser™.

Roam the nebula for the Massive Slug Pleasure Barge event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon) and decide to raid the Barge. A Pleasure Protector ship will approach from behind the massive ship and attack you. Get rid of it any way you want, but by the time you do the Barge will be seconds away from jumping away. Select one of the blue options to track the vessel and a quest marker will appear. If you don't have the means to track the Barge it will still be possible to find it, but there will be no marker indicating where it is.

Track down the Barge and you will be able to fight it. You will need to force the Slugs to surrender or crew kill the ship, otherwise the quest will fail. Once their hull has been brought down enough several escape pods will jettison away from the Barge, while the ship itself will begin to charge its FTL drive. Choose to ignore the escape pods and continue firing at the Barge until they hail you requesting surrender in exchange for a large supply of goods. Tell them the offer doesn't interest you and demand something better, and the Barge will throw in a random slug crew on top of their previous deal. Decline again and tell them to think bigger. The crew will finally surrender the entire ship to you, and you'll unlock the Pleasure Barge.

Knighted Cruisers[]

Layout "A": The unlock event for this ship is located in the secret sector "Royal Slug Nebulae".

To start the chain of events that lead to the secret sector, you need to find a Stranded Clairvoyant ship at any Slug-type sector (Slug Controlled Sector, its Sale! variant or Kleptocracy Capital).

Beacon details
ShipNo Ship
NebulaNo Nebula
DistressNo Distress

Search for the Stranded Clairvoyant event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon, though there will be a distress signal and it will be in a nebula beacon), and analyse the rogue planet in more detail. You will spot a crashed Slug Elite ship, with a bright yellow Slug emerging from the wreckage. Speak with him and he will introduce himself as Slocknog, and claim he'd been marooned on the planet for a long time.

Slocknog will ask for 50 Detailed Guide on Unlocking Ships (4) to make repairs to his vessel. Either give it to him or use a Maintenance Drone along with 3 Detailed Guide on Unlocking Ships (5) to repair his ship. He will then comment on how he'd forgotten the kindness of those outside the Nebula after ruling the empire for so long. Ask him what he means by RUNNING the empire and he'll reintroduce himself. He is Sir Slocknog Salvadi the Third, ex-king of the Slug Kleptocracy after another Slug named Nights cheated him off the throne during the Crown Theft Festival. Slocknog will thank you for the scrap and promise to seize the crown back from Nights, then give the co-ordinates leading to the Royal Nebula if you wish to "watch the spectacle".

Once you arrive, you'll discover the entire sector has been taken over by Nights' forces, called the Knights of Nights. A marker labelled Palace will appear on your map. Reach that location and you'll see Slocknog has beaten you there, with a fleet of Clairvoyant ships behind him. Stick around to watch and Slocknog will call for Nights to come out of the Palace and prove he can earn the crown without cheating. Nights will emerge from the Palace's hangar in his personal ship, the Black Raven, and immediately begin firing on Slocknog's Cruiser.

You'll observe that both sides are roughly equal in strength, and that you will be able to tip the battle in either Slugs favour if you decide to participate. You can then choose to either fight on behalf of Slocknog or Nights. While siding with either will unlock the ship, the outcome is slightly different:

Siding with Slocknog: If you choose to fight for Slocknog, you will engage Nights' personal ship head on. Take out his ship however you desire and it will crash into a nearby lake, with the fighting stopping just afterwards. After the crowd demands Slocknog be punished, you will be given a choice, to unlock the cruiser you must use a show of force to put him back in power. As a final thank you, Slocknog will repay you with a weapon, a reactor upgrade, a high scrap-only reward and the Knighted Cruisers.

Siding with Nights: If you choose to fight for Nights, you will engage Slocknog's personal ship head on. Take out his ship and it will crash into a nearby lake, with the fighting stopping just afterwards. Land your ship next to Nights' Cruiser and he will demand the crown be returned to him. The crowd of Slugs will refuse and call for him to be punished for causing so much needless violence. Choose to reinstate Nights by force and fire a warning shot at the crowd. Nights will then be given the crown, and begrudgingly give the Knighted Cruisers as thanks for your assistance, along with two Knight crewmembers and a high scrap-only reward.

Hacker Cruisers[]

Layout "A": The unlock event is located in the unique sector "Hacked Civilian Sector [!]". This sector will show up on the sector map as a friendly sector with one of the following names:

  • [Name Corrupted] [!]
  • %^#Civilian*@! [!]
  • ---Civln--- [!]
  • [Error - 606] [!]
  • C-vli- S-a-e [!]

Once you arrive at the sector, you realize the once peaceful civilian sector has been taking over by the Slug Hackers Clan. In order to unlock the ship, you will need to locate three Hacker Broadcasting Stations. These will show up on the map as [%^$#], which can be seen when you are next to a Hacked beacon or obtain a sector map data suite. These stations need to be either crew killed or destroyed to complete the unlock quest.

After the three stations have been dealt with, you'll receive a Federation signal, and a marker labelled 'Quest' will appear on your map. However, when you arrive you'll find not a Federation vessel but an enormous Hacker Cruiser, that will attack you for messing with the Clan's operations. Take them out and you'll recover the blueprints for the Hacker Cruiser.

Sylvan Cruisers[]

Layout "A":

  • You will require Sylvan to stay alive until you visit the Ancient Questline to unlock this ship, so do not attack him.

Follow the Ancient Questline until you reach the Obelisk Homeworlds Sector, in said sector you will be able to find Sylvan's usual purple "Merchant" Beacon noted on your sector map, go to said beacon (if you murdered Sylvan before, this label will not appear and you will be unable to avenge him, thus failing the unlock).

When you reach the beacon, pick the option to investigate his wreck closer and you will find none other than Leah, who is piloting a much stronger ship than usual and has managed to finish off Sylvan. Defeating her and thus avenging the traveling merchant will unlock his ship. It is not necessary to save Sylvan for the unlock to trigger although it is recommended to do so (with a level 3 medbay/clonebay or reconstructive+teleporter) as he is a very strong crewmember.

Layout "B": To unlock this variant you need Obyn in your crew first, which can be obtained by starting with him on Sodium Cruisers or by doing the Sodium Cruiser quest and choosing to "Entice him to stay with you and become a Federation hero." at the end of it so he stays as a crewmember.

With Obyn on your crew, the only thing you need is to reach Sylvan's wreck (the same way you find Sylvan described above in the Layout A unlock) via Ancient Questline, once you avenge Sylvan in the Obelisk Homeworlds you will get a special interaction between Sylvan and Obyn, which will unlock the ship. If you have a high enough level medical system (L3 medical or TP+Reconstructive) you can still rescue Sylvan from death before or after interacting with Obyn, the order does not change anything.

As Sylvan mentions, there are only two ways to get the unlock: crew kill the ship, or bring OOJ MAJOO to them. You will gain a quest beacon where OOJ is located after defeating the rebel ship at the Alpha marker.

At OOJ's marker, you will find an MFK Ace who is strangely peaceful. You must attack it butNOT crew kill them!, after forcing a surrender by dealing enough damage (hull at 3-4), pick the "Listen to them and stop." Option once they surrender and pick the following options: "Inquire about the voice.", "Yes.", "Agree to take him with you.", make sure you add OOJ MAJOO to your crew. Next up head for the other marker.

At the Morph Cruiser marker you will find the morph ship, if you have OOJ you can unlock the ship straight away via communicating using him, otherwise you will have to crewkill the ship (which can be difficult depending on your loadout as it has 15 different morphs on board with a medbay, with the ship also being anaerobic).

Find the crazed Lanius ship feeding on beacon event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon, though there will be a distress signal), and you'll be hailed by a nearby civilian station. They'll tell you that a Lanius ship is in the middle of devouring their beacon, and should they succeed the entire system will be locked off from the rest of the sector. Agree to get rid of the Lanius and you'll find an Elite Lanius vessel rambling about feeding the Beacon Eater. Make sure you attempt to contact them first, if you do not, you will not gain the critical info of "feeding the Beacon Eater", which is necessary to progress the quest.

Get rid of the Elite however you want and make contact with the civilian station to ask them if they know what the hell a "Beacon Eater" is. You will learn that it is actually the name of the Lanius King, and the civilians will give you his last known co-ordinates. A marker labelled 'Swarm' will appear on your map. You will also have a chance to harvest some beacon parts before you leave, it is recommended to gather them (it will take 1 fleet jump and an augment slot) though they aren't required for the unlock.

Arrive at the Swarm's location and you'll see a horde of hundreds of Lanius vessels surrounding a titanic Elite Lanius Cruiser. Approach the ship and you'll be hailed by Beacon Eater himself, asking why you have come before him. Ask if he could stop eating beacons and he'll tell you the sector belongs to him and he can eat what he wants, after which he will attack you. Augmented Cruisers[]

Layout "A": To unlock this ship you'll need to reach the secret sector "Ancient Recovery Site".

To begin this quest you'll need to find a beacon labelled 'Link', which only spawns in Engi and Separatist sectors. When you find one, you'll need the Link to host the Obelisk Auto-Ship event. While there is only a chance of this event spawning in normal Engi and Separatist sectors, the event is guaranteed to appear in the unique Engi Harmony sector.

Find the correct Link event and you'll sight several strange looking black and green structures in the background, being guarded by an inactive Auto-ship made up of the same material. Choose to either fight the ship or salvage some of the nearby wreckage, but both will result in fighting the vessel. Take it out and you'll obtain both a deactivated drone of some kind and the co-ordinates to some unique Lanius known as the Augmented.

Arrive at the co-ordinates and the Lanius will offer to take you to their sector. Agree and you'll instantly sector jump to the Ancient Recovery Site. Throughout this sector, there will be three beacons labelled 'Ruins' when you are next to them. Each ruin will host an Augmented Lanius vessel and some obelisk wreckage. Fight the Augmented at each beacon and salvage the ruins afterwards, with each salvage netting an obelisk weapon.

Once you salvage the third wreckage you'll discover an abandoned Augmented Cruiser, which you will download the blueprints for and unlock the ship.

It's a meta variable, so you only need to encounter the siren ship once across all playthroughs. It is not necessary to defeat this ship in any way to unlock the next part of the quest

After that you need to find and defeat 3 Rhymer Cultists. Similarly to the siren ship, these are tracked across all playthroughs, so you do not need to kill all 3 in one run. They reside in beacons marked with a red "C@!*I$%" marker on the starmap, and you can only find them if your stability value (a random number generated each run from 0-800) is between 0 and 50 (around a 1 in 16 chance).

Version 5.3 and below: Notably, the detergent bottle in the hangar at the start of a run will only appear if your run’s stability is at least 500, meaning that any run where the detergent bottle appears in the hangar will never have any Rhyme Cultists. This also means that restarting until the detergent bottle doesn’t appear in the hangar effectively increases the chance of your run having a sufficiently low stability value from 1 in 16 to 1 in 10.

Version 5.4: The detergent bottle's presence now signifies LOW stability. Restarting until the bottle is present will now increase your chances of finding Rhyme Cultists in your run.

If your run's stability value is right, then the cultists can be found in the following sectors:

  • Crystal Homeworlds
  • Lanius Swarmlands
  • Black Market
  • Civilian Hacker Sector
  • Central Shipyards
  • Spectral Wastelands
  • Spectral Capital

Once you have found the 3rd cultist and defeated them (or a single cultist on any run afterwards), you will gain the coordinates for a secret reroute sector. Be sure you are well prepared before you reroute there. On the other side of the reroute you will find The One Who Rhymes who you will need to fight if you want the unlock. He can't be crew killed, so focus all your attention on destroying his ship and dealing with his boarding team. Defeating him will net you the Rhyme Cruiser.

NebulaNo Nebula
DistressNo Distress

Find the Mantis Wreck Harvester event (Long-Ranged Scanners will show no ships at this beacon, and it will be inside the nebula) and investigate the scene further. A Clansman will hail you asking if you've come to shut down their operation. Tell them you haven't and they will offer to sell you some Mantis Pheromones. Decline and ask instead where all the Mantis ships came from. The Clansman will allege that they were purchased from some Ghosts. Ask where the Ghosts got the wrecks from and the Clansman will claim they were from "The Mantis Store". Say you didn't realize that was a thing and he will offer to give you some co-ordinates leading to it. Agree and a new marker labelled 'Quest' will appear on your map.

Reach the marker and you will find a junkyard littered with wrecked Mantis vessels being piloted by ghosts. Hail the ghosts and ask them if this area is, in fact, the Mantis store. The ghosts will tell you that it is and ask you to look around for something that catches your eye. Offer to buy a Mantis ship for 500 scrap and you will unlock the Wrecked Bomber.

    • You can also convince the slug to lower his price down to 96 scrap, netting you the unlock but saving 4 scrap. (BEST DEAL!)
  • Pay 300 scrap for a drawing from an Easy C.U.R.A Task.
  • Alternatively, pay 50 scrap and kill yourself on the suicide moon event in an Eargen sector. (the event is likely but not guaranteed to spawn on either Eargen sector, it will be a ship detected and nebula beacon)

Layout "B": Take a loan at a Tony Sr store of any amount and confront 'The Worm' at an exit beacon (50% chance at regular exit, 33% chance at regular nebula exit), the ship will unlock once you defeat the debt collector in any way (do not spare him if given the chance).
