Yes, NPs can certainly inject Botox®.

Because Botox is a powerful neurotoxin, it's important that it's administered by a qualified health care professional. In most states, this means that only licensed health care providers, such as doctors, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses, are authorized to administer Botox injections.

Who may inject Botox? Physicians may inject Botox, or they may direct registered nurses or physician assistants to perform the injection under their supervision. No unlicensed persons, such as medical assistants, may inject Botox.

Because it causes paralysis of the muscle, it can be dangerous if used incorrectly. Medical assistants, even certified medical assistants, do not go through enough training to be able to safely administer botox injections.
