You're more likely to have a serious side effect if you use clobetasol on a large area of skin for a long time. Clobetasol cream contains cetostearyl alcohol, which may cause a skin reaction in the area you are treating, and chlorocresol, which may cause an allergic reaction.

Don't use clobetasol for more than 2 weeks at a time (4 weeks for the shampoo) unless directed by your provider. In addition, if you suddenly stop using clobetasol after having done so for a long time and over a large skin area, you might experience topical steroid withdrawal (TSW).
