RECIPE: Rotisserie Style BBQ Chicken

My favourite of them all, is getting succulent, tender roast chicken on the table in an easy breezy 40 minutes. You don’t even need to preheat the air fryer, just pop it in and turn it on! It’s Philips Airfryer wizardry at its greatest. Here’s the recipe I use for BBQ rotisserie style roast chicken.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

1.4 kg plain roast chicken (or smaller)
1 teaspoon oil

BBQ Rub:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons paprika
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
fresh grind black pepper
zest of half a lemon

Method

1. Mix together all the ingredients for the BBQ rub and set aside.

2. Place the chicken in a large bowl and massage with the oil, front and back. Tip the spice rub over the chicken and rub all over, coating the entire surface.

3. Place the chicken in the Philips Airfryer basket, breast side up, tucking the wings in so they don’t poke up.

4. Simply turn the quick dial to select the Roast pre-set mode (180°C) and set the timer to 40 minutes. Press start and that’s it – let the Philips Airfryer work its magic!

Note: smaller chickens may require less time.

My favourite hack is to keep a roll of cookie dough in the freezer. When you need biscuits in a hurry – school lunch boxes every day, impromptu guests – simply slice several rounds off the roll and pop them straight into the Philips Airfryer to cook. Ten minutes and voila! Fresh biscuits and the kitchen smells like you’ve been hard at it all morning!

[mc_block_title custom_title=”Fruit Chips”]

RECIPE: Air Fryer Banana Chips

Ingredients

  • 3-4 pcs of raw banana
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp oil

Method

  • Peel the banana and mix turmeric powder and salt with water.
  • Slice the banana and smear it with the mixture. This will stop the banana turning black and will keep it a nice yellow colour.
  • Leave to sit for 5-10 minutes, then drain and finally, dry the chips.
  • Brush a little oil on the chips to stop them sticking to the Philips Airfryer basket.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 180ºC for 5 minutes, then cook the chips for 15 minutes.
  • Finally, mix salt and chaat masala with the fried banana and serve.
